Right now we are in lock-down mode because of corona-virus scares; but that has just given us more time to let the beauty of Spring fill the house.
Since we have to be here so much, we might as well make it as pleasant and as beautiful as possible; right?
Those were my thoughts last year about this same time; and they have not changed. This Robin’s Egg Blue theme made me very happy during the first year of COVID; so I’m going to repost; just in case it might cheer up a few people in today’s progress of the social distancing world. During this past year I have tried very hard to keep home as cheerful and organized as possible; subconsciously that seems to make up for the chaotic state of the world and we have had more peace because of it; I’m sure.
MAKING THE BEST OF STAYING AT HOME
I put up my blue curtains again, but I just used them to frame my already hung whites. The added color was lovely.
I’ve had a bad case of robin’s egg blues. That has begun to show up everywhere in our home; even coming inside the front door.
It has filled the foyer in the entry. The flowers added a lovely touch. I was lucky to find them before the stores began to concentrate more on necessities than the little extras that we are so fond of taking for granted.
For a few weeks these lovely flowers greeted us coming into the door and on the kitchen table.
Robin’s egg blue has become the color for the pillows on the couch and the runners for the coffee tables.
I couldn’t resist a little candy to carry out this theme even further. We have had the munchies ever since the grocery stores have experienced such empty shelves.
So; the dining room has become pleasantly blue too. I’m probably going to add my soft yellow curtains to frame the white curtains in the dining room. Something else to get around to while we are on lock down. I love this extra time! I hate the reason for it; but I’ll take more time any way that I can find it. The yellow dining room curtains will match the soft yellows in my wreath on the kitchen door.
One thing I haven’t found yet are some little bird’s nest that I plan to add here and there. I’ll dig them out of the storage area soon.
I’ve got to work out there a bit while we have down time too. I never have enough time to sort, store and discard all of the seasonal things. There is a possibility of a yard sale coming up to feature a lot of seasonal items.
The kitchen tree became the nested home of several new bluebirds. I’m thinking of placing a jar for contributions to Camp Bluebird underneath this tree. I’ll share it all year with whoever comes to notice the tree’s seasons and see what I can collect to send to my friend who could take it to camp with her next session. She came to visit a few days ago and we enjoyed a simple dinner and a glass of wine in this now robin’s egg blue kitchen.
Our next SEASONS theme will be Passover and we are already working on how to go about our Seder this year.
All of the down time has been a blessing in helping to prepare for the Seven Days of Unleavened Bread too. I’ve begun emptying the pantry and using up all of the foods with leavening ingredients. Since we haven’t been able to go to the store much; having to empty the pantry has become more of a fun and challenging game for the family to share.
I hope your spring plans are all coming together in spite of all the worldly troubles. Remember the people were told to stay inside during the Passover. God is just giving us more time to focus on the things that are truly important. This tells me this year is going to be very special in every way.
God bless you as you go about preparing your own home for God’s Spring Holy Days.
