FEAST OF TRUMPETS 2026

Tonight’s sunset begins The Feast of Trumpets 2026.  Are you ready? Yesterday, I spent a lot of time editing an article about calling the official title of this holy day Yom Teruah.  Of course, I was making this observation from when YHVH told Israel to change  their new year from Tishrei to Nisan. This was ordered by God. It happened in coorrelation to when the people crossed into The Promised Land. 

Why would a God who never changes order a different new year’s observance? It appears to be a paradigm shift which underscores the progressing of the spiritual nation of God. They went from wandering in the wilderness, to living inside The Promised Land. Now this day is more officially called Yom Teruah instead of Rosh Hashanah. Instead of a new year, the appointed times now speak of a new way of life.

Is it possible that this year will become yet another paradigm shift for God’s people of today?

A NEW LIFE 

The Jewish civil calendar has not changed. It still shows Rosh Hashanah as the title of this day. Rosh Hashanah and Yom Teruah are noted as the same day. Typically, this calendar has always pointed to the years of mankind on the earth. Specifically, the years since the creation of mankind and time, not the years since the beginning of creation. Mankind did not exist until the sixth day. The days before the time of man were not defined in time as we know it. It is possible the whole creation process took billions of years. Time with God is defined different than time for men.  Our time didn’t start until day six.

5786 spoke of a year exemplifying a period in history exhibiting the ways of men.  Looking back over last year, that definition turned out to be so obviously true. This last year is defined by the number six in 5786. Six is the number of men. Men definitely played into the days of the past year. To clarify, much of the chaos we saw last year came from the minds of men.

Now for the time of new life!  It has officially arrived. 5787 turns a page into a time of completion. This is symbolized by the number 7 (meaning “completion”) in 5787. In year 5787 we seem to be entering another paradigm shift involving the progression of the Kingdom of God. This particular Yom Teruah seems to be more urgent, timely and important to the calendar of Hebraic thinking people. 

REMEMBER THE PAST BUT KEEP MOVING AHEAD

Not to be splitting hairs, but there are many things about the celebrations traditional to Rosh Hashanah we will still need to remember and celebrate. In other words, don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater.  Many Rosh Hashanah customs remain relevant. Some followers of Yeshua Messiah are still calling this day Rosh Hashanah, but applying the more defined definitions and meanings which history has unfolded.

Consequently, this date isn’t about the beginning of the creation of the world on God’s calendar. That thought is close, but not quite accurate. It is about the beginning of the creation of mankind and their gift of time. This part of the old tradition is important. The meaning must still be kept, but with a deeper understanding. This further definition simply opens our understanding to a fuller place.

GOLD AND SILVER TRADITIONS 

For example, the world might have begun 13.5 trillion years ago. However, most Hebraic thinkers believe God placed humans on the earth approximately 5787 years ago. This statement is made according to facts we know from history, science, and scriptures.  However, all of that is another lesson/article unto itself.

My point is, The Feast of Trumpets is still about remembering much of what we know from the old traditions of Rosh Hashanah. Though the official new year date changes, the facts from the basic ancient wisdom must not be forgotten. Thus, many of the Rosh Hashanah traditions need to remain in tact.

Our new year has changed, making the meaning of things much fuller. However, our history is still consistent with God’s original calendar. That calendar started on The Feast of Trumpets, or Yom Teruah, which the Jewish people still call Rosh Hashanah. The Jewish New Year celebration still continues. Only followers of Yeshua have a new date. This isn’t a new year date question, it is a question of when mankind first began. God’s calendar officially began with the creation of the first man and his first moments of time. All of that knowledge, previously celebrated at Rosh Hashanah remains in tact.

SOME THINGS WILL ALWAYS BE RELEVANT 

So, does this mean we should no longer celebrate the OTHER meanings behind Rosh Hashanah?  No, these things which involve history and time are still relevant and true for Hebraic believers. This simply means, we acknowledge a change. The official new year for the calendar of God now begins with Nisan, not Tishrei. However, the month of Tishrei still remains the month when The Feast of Trumpets shows up on God’s calendar. We still celebrate the events of the month of Tishrei,. The people recall all of its meanings and traditions, only with a more-expanded knowledge and understanding.

Thus, for followers of Yeshua, the customs and traditions surrounding Rosh Hashanah have been expanded. Expanded does not mean abolished. With this more appropriate name of Yom Teruah there is more of the story being told. We have much more to celebrate. In this year’s Feast of Trumpets celebrations, that seems especially true. Every year adds to our knowledge from above. Each passing season brings forth more of the promises of God.

PARALLEL TO COVENANT

This shift in understanding actually compares with the definition of covenant in many ways.  Now, some of us say “Yom Teruah” instead of “Rosh Hashanah.”  This is similar to how we have shifted our language to say “Torah” instead of “The Old Testament.” It is more of a language change.

However, many will continue to say Rosh Hashanah. The message I’m linking in this article today does this very thing, so don’t get confused. We ARE on the same page.  However, the speaking will actually be referring to the expanded meaning of this season we have usually called Rosh Hashanah.  To uncomplicate all of this I have tried to say The Feast of Trumpets.  That way all groups can relate and understand where I’m coming from and what I’m speaking about. 

I don’t want to over-react to this teaching of a type of title change. It is what it is. What I want you to see is God is taking these meanings we already know and expanding our understanding.  This is important to notice.  It relates to the evolution of God’s times. Also, this process is how God’s Kingdom always works. In His perfect timing, so much is revealed.  He waits until He knows we are ready to receive. If we are walking inside the rhythms of His calendar, we can see and note these processes as they happen. We better understand the unfolding of history as it plays out before our eyes.

A SHIFTING PARADIGM

As we approach The Feast of Trumpets for this year, things are said to be “shifting.”  I can feel that heavy shifting going on inside my own home.  This year is certainly different than most. Our grown children all had other plans this year for Yom Teruah.  They will not be with us at our house for The Feast of Trumpets. We will certainly miss them as we kick off the beginning of the fall festivals from our home.  I pray they will all join us for the later fall festivities this year.

Their absence makes me sad. Yet, I know God has their hearts and holds them safely. I am trusting Him to keep them exactly where they need to be. I pray they will be doing exactly what they need to be doing.  He knows so much better than I do. What I do know is these things are no longer my responsibility. Our children are all very grown. They all must make their own ways.  Also, they are the ones responsible for teaching their children how to live.  I pray for God to guide them every day. This is what I trust.

Funny, how physical life always mimics the spiritual side of things.  As I watch my own family changing and growing, I see God doing the same thing with our spiritual family.  This isn’t only true with our little world. It seems a huge paradigm shift is happening spiritually all across the globe. Have you noticed this?

A NOTICABLE SPIRITUAL SHIFT

With these changes for this year, I have let go of much of the physical preparations. My housework has not been as heavy, and the meal prep has not been as much. I’ve needed to be at the hospital tending to my Mother a lot. Thankfully, she is home now and doing fine. However, I’ve been distracted from many of the physical preparations I usually do this time of the year. I was feeling anxious about this because I didn’t know our children were not coming until a few days ago.

In spite of the time constraints I have done a lot of writing for the blog. It seemed more important this year.  

RELAXING AND TRUSTING

The daily review and editing of the blog posts for Elul and Trumpets has helped me to concentrate on spiritual preparations more than physical preparations.  Along with my own inspired writings, I’ve enjoyed reading daily devotions for the month of Elul from Bill Cloud’s book called ON THIS DAY – A DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR ELUL.  This book has been a great guide for preparing my heart spiritually for this fall season.

Because I’ve slacked a lot from the usual physical preparations, I offered up a prayer this morning. In this prayer I was apologizing to God for letting go of all the physical things and only concentrating on the spiritual. Surprisingly, The Father showed me that my heart had become more like Mary’s and less like Martha’s. I could almost feel God laughing, not at me, but with me.

With that in mind, I could feel the weight of guilt dropping off my back. I sensed my heavenly Father was delighted. He seemed not a bit worried about the things I had simply let go in order to spend more time and prayer with Him. Moreover, I sensed He seemed pleased I had more time for the spiritual activity of preparing my heart and posting His story to others. I’m thankful for this prayer time. My heart goes into The Feast of Trumpets much lighter. 

SEEING FURTHER

Then another HUGE thing happened. As I sat down at the desk today, thinking I would do some last minute article reviews and make a few more posts about The Feast of Trumpets for 2026, it was as if God said, “stop.”  I listened carefully to this prompting. Then I heard more.  “Stop and listen to a message I am sending you today.  Go to You-tube and listen to what I show you.” 

It is definitely a very strange day when I feel God tell me to go to You-tube LOL. Rarely is there anything I could believe out there in la-la land. That would be most unusual.  However, I responded by searching through the You-tube posts on my screen.  My fingers kept scrolling. Suddenly, I felt The Holy Spirit saying, “This is the One.” So, still feeling strange to be doing this, I clicked in.

AN IMPORTANT AND TIMELY MESSAGE

I’m so delighted that I clicked into this message. What I found was a beautiful picture of this time and season on God’s calendar.  Previously, I’ve noticed how this ministry always delivers timely messages for each season.  I’ve listened to them in the past on many occasions. We have ordered from them before, and even used their workbooks at some of our Feast of Tabernacle gatherings. However, today was different. The message I heard today felt more urgent and timely. 

So, this was the specific message God led me to discover in order to prepare my heart for this year’s blessings of Yom Teruah – The Feast of Trumpets. I just wanted to share it with you. Maybe, like me, you will be inspired and feel more prepared to enter the open gates of this season. 

Of course, my husband and I will be joining Jacob’s Tent on Saturday’s Shabbat/Feast of Trumpets. This is our usual “go-to” on-line congregational message for Shabbat and Feast Days. We love this congregation and hope to visit in person some day. However,  I wanted to mention that this preparatory message from Rabbi Curt Landry has totally put things into a very clear perspective. It is a great listen for approaching the worship of this season called The Feast of Trumpets. I feel all other Hebrew Roots type congregations will agree.  The timely and profound message certainly has us getting ready with joy and anticipation. 

JOY AND ANTICIPATION

Now that I’ve listened to this very prophetic message about the coming year, especially after reviewing the message about calling this date Yom Teruah, there remains a question in my mind. Will these changes the Rabbi speaks of happen on The Feast of Trumpets, or Nissan 1, or inbetween both times?

Only God would know that answer.  However, after much prayer, I feel it is a message that will marinate in our thoughts through all of the fall feasts. The thoughts will carry us all the way up to the feasts of next spring. At that point we may have many new answers to many unanswered questions. That tells me this Sukkot/Feast of Tabernacles is going to be full and amazing. I’m more excited than ever.

The simplicity, as if it was being told to a child, grabbed my heartstrings.

Remember, we aren’t starting a new year, we ARE entering a new time period in history. It is so important to stay in rhythm with God’s calendar. This calendar is among some of the greatest gifts given to us by our Bridegroom. He gave us a calendar full of love notes and date nights! It guides us in preparing our hearts for the coming wedding day. 

Don’t ever doubt what God has planned for those who follow Him into the seasons of life He has appointed. These times are always amazing and wonderful beyond measure.

Father, Thank you for giving us The Feast of Trumpets.  It is our blessing to walk through the open doors of Your Kingdom and to receive the words of Yeshua into our lives. May Our King reign forever and ever.  Amen
