The last element of the Passover Seder is Nirtzah.
Nirtzah is the closing element of the Passover.
Someone will rise and state that the Seder has been completed.
Everyone in unison will say: “NEXT YEAR IN JERUSALEM!”
Of course if this happens, and we DO find ourselves in Jerusalem next year; most likely it will mean that Messiah has returned!
That is the very reason we make this wish every year; to welcome and anticipate all throughout this present year our hopeful plea for the Messiah to return before the next Passover; so that we may partake with Him in Jerusalem.
Can you imagine how good that day will be?
Many families have a favorite hymn or song that they all sing together after this closing salutation.
Then everyone goes to their own home.
The ending is very significant in that it is simply another new beginning.
Many of us will feel the uncertainty of the unknown.
We walk out from the love, hope and warmth of the Seder into the harsh night of the world.
Things are very different once we leave those who love us most and step out in faith to do our work on this earth.
We are beginning a new page; a new year and lots of mysteries are in store for each of us.
Just like when the People of God encountered the parting of the Sea; God will go before us.
God will lead the way.
A path will form for us to take and we will go there in faith.
It is hoped that the peace and comfort and hope and anticipation of God’s Kingdom from the night of The Passover Seder will linger on inside our hearts and bring us comfort and cheer as we walk through yet another year in the world where we live and work and play daily.
HAPPY PASSOVER EVERYONE!
NEXT YEAR IN JERUSALEM!
