WELCOME TO SIVAN 5785

We’ve reached the Hebrew month of Sivan 5785.  Last night was the new moon!  Speaking of the sky, the constellation that represents the month of Sivan is Gemini.  Please don’t think we do horoscopes or any other such pagan predictions, because that isn’t part of our belief and religious practices at all.  What we do believe in is the Creator.  He created the stars in the sky.

The ancients mapped the stars because they told the stories of God. Think of how the wise men during the days of Herod were following the star to find the new King (Jesus.)

LOOKING AT THE STARS OF HEAVEN

Sivan’s story is symbolized by stars that look like two twins standing side-by-side. The stars align to look like two people are walking together in the sky.  This twin concept plays strongly into the biblical interpretations of this month of Sivan on the Hebrew calendar. Immediately, after looking at the two identical star patterns resembling two people walking together, my mind went to the concept of “one new man.” This is the concept of the unification of Jews and Gentiles believing in Messiah together under God’s love and authority.

UNITY UNDER TORAH

Think, Cain and Able and/or Jacob and Esau.  Our bibles are full of stories about twins.  When we think of twins we must consider the duality of the human soul.  With duality, there are two sides to everything, good and evil, physical and spiritual, love and hate, sadness and joy, etc.  In Sivan the concept of duality is celebrated and harmonized.  It is the Torah that brings this unity.

The month of Sivan was when Moses received the two tablets of stone called The Ten Commandments.  Again, we see a needed duality.  Somehow the Torah is revealed to us through the concept of twins.  There are also two forms of Torah, the written Torah and the Oral Torah. One compliments the other.

MADE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD

Song of Songs 5:2 says:  “Open your heart to Me, My sister, My dove, My love, My perfection.”  The word “perfection” in this verse is translated to mean “my twin.”  This scripture is a metaphor for how God sees Israel.  God sees the people as “twins” with Him, someone else who bears His image.  He looks at us and seeks to know that His image lives within us as a reflection of Heaven.

Genesis 1:27 states it this way: “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

God’s image is the part of our nature that is light-bearing.  He is always hoping to see that light in our souls.  The scriptures say, “I am my beloved’s and my beloved’s mine.  It is like He is saying to those that He loves that the hearts of His light-bearers are the same as His heart.  This is when God’s nature and man’s nature are united as One.  Hence the deeper meaning of the Shema, which begins with “Hear O Israel, The Lord Our God is One.”

DUALITY – UNITY AND CHOAS

There are twins who live in love and unity.   Also, there are twins who are nothing alike and cannot get along. Jacob and Esau are one set of twins whose lives are recorded in the Torah.  Their personalities were opposite.  The duality of the different personalities of these famous twins represent the people of Israel.

Some of God’s people are faithful and true. However, some are rebellious.  Actually, both of these opposing characteristics can be found in all humans.  We all have two sides.  One side is the side of a man, who does good.  The other side is the side of a beast, who does evil.

MAN AND BEAST

All men can display both characteristics during different times and seasons of life.  The stronger twin, or the nature that prevails in the end, shows who the person becomes, or how he truly is.  Mankind has control over the destiny of his own nature.  This is because God gives us choices.  Our choices make us either like a man, or like a beast.  It is the side that we feed and nourish which thrives.  The side we chose to starve and deliberately walk away from is the side that dies to itself and disappears from our nature.

Many have seen this example from the lives of Adam and Eve.  They believe that the two people were One in the beginning.  Then, God separated them.  Later, as lovers, they reunited and new life came from this unity.  We see the theory of 1-2-1, and how God creates in unity, then divides, then gathers back together to form a higher form of life.

TRANSFORMATION THROUGH TORAH

The Torah was given in the month of Sivan. Sivan is the third month of the Hebraic year.  There is the first month called Nisan. Nisan speaks to us of the resurrected life.  Next, we see the second month of Iyar. In Iyar we are split apart from one another during the time of the Passover. Some are divided out when the first-born are sacrificed because of disobedience. This leaves mostly the godly and righteous alive.

Then we come to Sivan, where the giving of the law at Mt. Sinai required a blood sacrifice. This worship once again gathered us in God. It united us again.  1-2-1.  The second month is not complete until the third month has brought this new spiritual transformation to completion.

THE THIRD MONTH REFLECTS THE COMPLETION OF THE THIRD DAY

This is why on the second day of creation, God did not say “it is good.” He did so on the other days of Creation.  Yet, after the second day, He waited until the end of the third day to comment. This was when the plan was more complete.  Then, He said, “it is good.”

The separating of the waters brought the dry land. The land gave the green growing things on the third day.  The third day contained seeds which nourished the earth.  That was when God saw the completeness from the unity of the first two days. He praised the process on the third day which provided life.

It was the third day when Jesus rose from the grave to life everlasting.  He made eternal life possible for us. It was good! This pattern repeats in so many biblical scriptures and stories.

THE CREATION OF THE EARTH WAS FINISHED

The number three represents a permanent establishment.  Until the third day, nothing was finished. That gives yet another meaning to Jesus’s words “It is finished.” He was bringing us to the spiritual third day which echoed the physical third day of the creation. Jesus was the author of both plans.

However, the month of Sivan is symbolized by twins. Twins would seem to represent the number two. We see a duality that is not yet complete.  The third day is when this completeness comes into existence.  The second day was good, it just wasn’t good YET. On the third day it was completed. The earth was born.

GOOD AND EVIL

To understand more, we must consider the twins spoken of in the Torah.  Jacob and Esau were twins. One was good, and one was evil.

Another set of twins, born to Judah, are also mentioned in later scriptures.  These twins were Peretz and Zorach.  Both of these twins were good.

We see two possibilities with twins. They either complete each other in holiness, or they oppose each other.

Sivan is about how these two twins are walking.  Are they walking together or apart? It matters how you walk, and who you are walking with.  Walking with God is the only way to achieve holiness.  Walk in The Spirit of God.  He will direct your path. Let your eyes look straight ahead, turning neither to the right or left. Turn your foot from evil.  Always let your talk match your walk.

COMPLETIONS

This is the month where God provides mercy for completing something. In Sivan 5785, have you been called to a mission that hasn’t been completed?  Provision will be made.  The scepter is extended.  You have favor in the month of Sivan 5785.

The number 7 that we see in the 7 weeks of counting the omer, with seven days times seven days equaling 49 days speaks of a merciful completion. You have been counting in order to move closer to God. He will bring these days to completion and you will find the intimacy you desire at Pentecost.

The 49th week of the counting (7 days x 7 days) is when the completeness arrives.  Seven’s in this month are significant and important. God rests on the 7th day.  There is a Sabbath rest for the people of God.  We know there are seven sabbaths that pass in the omer count before we reach Pentecost.

THE ALPHABET FOR SIVAN IS ZAYIN

Zayin speaks of the seed. It recalls the green plant and how it produces seed.  Jesus is the seed of David that died, then lived again and brought forth fruit.  During Sivan 5785 God is bringing heaven to earth using the firstfruits of the harvest of souls.  In Sivan 5785 He will plant seeds in your life.  Walk in righteousness and see them flourish in the month of Sivan 5785.

Your Father wants you to prosper.  He wants to bless you to be a blessing.  Psalm 84:6-7 speaks of this when it says, “Passing through the valley of Bacca they make it a spring.”  Pass through the valleys with God’s will for your life and He will deliver you.  He has a covenant with you and you are His.   This month of Sivan is a covenant month.

A COVENANT MONTH

The covenant was a marriage covenant.  At Mt. Sinai, when God gave the commandments to Moses, He married Israel.  The commandments were a wedding contract. Now, God is bringing the people to Mt. Zion because He wants to marry them.  This is the month of that covenant of betrothal.    It is the month when the first Adam (mankind) and the last Adam (Jesus) unite. It is the month of Pentecost, a spiritual unity that had never happened before. Here is a link to a beautiful song that will help tie it all together for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLWfa_cCPj4.

ZEBULON IS THE TRIBE REMEMBERED IN SIVAN

The symbolic tribe of Israel for Sivan is Zebulon.   Zebulon was the 10th son of Jacob.  He was Leah’s sixth son.  The warriors from Zebulon were the ones who helped David.  They were one with David, with undivided hearts.  God looks at the heart.

The disciples named James and John were also from Zebulon.

THE WHITE MOON STONE

The white moon stone is the gem that is symbolic of Sivan.  It is almost transparent. Holiness is about transparency.  There is not enough time to discuss the significance of the white stone. We will have to cover that in another lesson. It is important and significant. I highly recommend you study the subject further while you are thinking of where God is leading you in Sivan.

SUMMARY OF SIVAN 5785

Sivan is the month we celebrate Shavuot/Pentecost.  https://theinseasonlifestyle.com/everything-pentecost/. It speaks of receiving the law and the Word of God.  Sivan speaks of God’s people entering the marriage covenant with God.

The completeness of Sivan comes when the counting of the omer ends and Pentecost has arrived. On Pentecost, God comes down to bring His word to Israel. Through Israel, the whole world has been blessed.

We know after Jesus’s ascension on the 40th day, that he told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem.  They were obedient.  Their experience on that day was much like the fire/smoke and trembling the ancients saw at Mt. Sinai. In Jerusalem that day they saw God’s Holy Spirit descend and rest upon the heads of the ones who followed Jesus.  On that day they received power from on high.

Sivan is a very powerful month in which those who have God’s Holy Spirit living within them will be refreshed and renewed. Those who have waited on the Lord in obedience will receive power for the rest of their mission for this year of 5785.
