Do you count the omer at your house?
These are the fifty days that we count from Passover in order to know when we have reached The Day of Pentecost.
We like to count these days at our house and say a prayer each day.
Sometimes though; we need a cheerful little reminder and I’ve managed to do that with these little mason jars full of candy.
They are so easy to put together. I chose some pastel colored candies that I found in the wedding section of the craft store; but any favorite candy will work with this craft.
Simply buy some small mason jars and remove the lids and count fifty pieces of candy inside of each jar.
Tie decorative ribbons around the top of the jar.
Some people like to label the outside of their jars with poems, or prayers, or pretty photos that remind them of God’s blessings.
Each day as you think of counting the day and saying the prayer you get to eat one piece of candy.
You know your count is right and you can tell when Pentecost is very near by the amount of candy that is left in your jar each day.
It is a fun and easy craft and the kids and grands love it. It surely helps people to understand the importance of numbering our days and being thankful and grateful for the days that God has given us life on this earth.
Makes for a pretty display as you come into the Passover Seder too.
I give them out for favors as our Passover guest are leaving.
Blessings and Happy Crafting!
