Omer Count – Day 49 has arrived at last! In the process of A Christian Counts the Omer, we’ve finally made it to the end of our journey. We are about to step into a brand new beginning! Our focus on Omer Count – Day 49, is Malchut of Malchut. It means, the sovereignty of our sovereignty. For a more beautiful and full explanation of this 49th day, consider this link: https://www.chabad.org/kabbalah/article_cdo/aid/380807/jewish/Malchut.htm.
By Omer Count – Day 49 we have counted 49 days. Our counting is about to be complete. Come tomorrow we can graduate into a brand new place.
Tomorrow will be Pentecost!
Pentecost will last for two days here, and it begins at sunset tonight and lasts through sunset tomorrow.
We have arrived to the place where God has been taking us for the last 50 days! Seven weeks have come and gone in the time of our counting. 49 days have reached their completion. The bridge between Passover and Pentecost is about to be crossed. We have left many things behind now. There are new beginnings at the other side of this very significant bridge. It is time to end the crossing and walk into a higher place.
LIFE WITH GOD IS FULL OF PLACES OF CROSSING
Life with God is full of places of “crossing.” On Omer Count – Day 49, we end a time of “crossing.” We are ending our journey from one place and beginning our journey into a new place.
Remember how the Israelites crossed the Reid Sea? We are inside one of those moments in our own days. Even stronger thoughts ascend to considering what happened with Jesus after He was crossed. He was the first of many to be resurrected into God’s eternal Kingdom. His “crossing” allows us to be The Church of today. The “crossing” of Christ has given us eternal life that will never end.
We will follow the scriptures to observe the Day of Pentecost on the Day after the Sabbath. Today is the last day of the counting and it landed nicely on our 7th Day Sabbath. Tomorrow, Sunday, will be the “morrow after the Sabbath” as the scriptures state. That will bring us to The Day of Pentecost. The count doesn’t always fall in a way that is so easily understood, but it does in this year of 2025. Let’s just bask in the simplicity and celebrate accordingly.
Our last quality to examine for the Godly life of a Christian counting the omer is Malchut of Malchut; or the sovereignty of our sovereignty.
A BEAUTIFUL SUMMARY OF ALL OF THESE DAYS
First, I would like to share a type of a summary of all of our previous counting.
The wonder of it all is said nicely through a poem I found on a blog called Ritualwall.
This blog’s perspective is Jewish; but you can also see it from the Christian viewpoint which we have taken in our journey from this blog. Don’t get lost in the “labels” of this summary. Just let God speak to you of its truths. https://ritualwell.org/ritual/omer-day-49-malchut-shbemalchut.
With that shared; I want to say I love the words it promotes about malchut of malchut:
“Malchut of Malchut – It is the culmination.
This is where we live, this is the here and now,
God’s name in Malkhut is Adonai Ha-Eretz, Lord of the Earth.
But in Malchut we are ALL the lords of this realm,
We are one in the One-ness.
These are our laws, our nations, our communities, our religions,
These are our choices, our mistakes, our kindnesses, our glory,
We are the rulers, here.
So here’s a prayer for this world of Malkhut and all of us Jews
Of all colors and kinds
In the last day of the Omer,
Making our choices,
Hanging out at the foot of Mount Sinai,
Deposited here by seven sefirot and 49 days of counting,
Waiting to receive Torah.
THE SOVEREIGNTY OF OUR SOVEREIGNTY
Isn’t that beautiful?
This summarizing poem sets the tone for any malchut of malchut wisdom we can share today.
So what exactly do we mean when we say after these last seven weeks that we have reached the sovereignty of our sovereignty?
We have looked at our lives and examined each of our attributes as human beings. These attributes make us become the very best that we can be while still remaining human.
All of these last 49 days have been about improving our human state. However, this day that is coming tomorrow is different. Tomorrow is a divine gift! Come tomorrow. we will greatly improve our spiritual state. Life and living should step up to a whole new level. Tomorrow, at Pentecost, Our Father In Heaven is going to do something for us that we cannot do for ourselves. He is going to fill us up with HIS Holy Spirit. This is the completion of all completions. It brings us right into a whole new type of royalty. This is a new birth that gives us a royal inheritance which can never be revoked or stolen from us.
Tomorrow’s gift is sent straight down from Heaven to each of those who love and follow Jesus. Jesus is the One who made this gift possible. He gave His precious blood and life so that we could have salvation. With that holy gift comes eternal life. Eternal life is a royal and holy life which Jesus has set before us in a perfect pattern. All we have to do is follow Him. God will do the rest.
This is something that we could never find on our own with all of our human limitations. Jesus Christ has given us the amazing ability to actually reach and touch the divine.
A PEACE AND JOY THAT PASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING
Malchut of Malchut expresses what is inexpressible. It is completely undefinable in human terms. This is a gift from the Groom of Heaven to His Bride who has made herself ready for his coming. In the process of counting the days, the Bride has been busy making herself ready. Now she receives a peace and a joy that passes all human understanding.
We have reached the moment of actualization. For this year, the Bride is ready! She is eagerly waiting, but there is one last and most important thing she must do right away. She must fill up her lamp and obtain all the oil that is needed to keep living in the light as she awaits the arrival of The Groom. Tomorrow culminates that last important step.
This is the moment that we begin putting all we have learned about ourselves and our own God-given destinies into action. We wear this destiny like a wedding gown as we move within the world around us. There have been 49 days for these thoughts and meditations to saturate our spirits. They have filled our prayers with hope for growing closer and closer to God. Tomorrow we will realize His Divine Presence in a whole new way.
CROSSING A HOLY BRIDGE IN TIME
In this time of counting the days, we have crossed a holy bridge which has allowed us to move from Passover to Shavuot (Pentecost.)
We have gone from the time of receiving freedom into the time of knowing Torah.
As each and every day passed by; we did the necessary preparation and work in order to be able to receive the blessings of Torah on Pentecost.
Pentecost is a three-layered process. It is about receiving Torah. Then it is about knowing Jesus and receiving God’s Holy Spirit as a divine gift from Heaven. Afterwards it is about moving into a whole new way of life lead by God’s Holy Spirit. Pentecost takes us into the place were we prepare to reunite with Christ upon His return for us.
BECOMING TORAH READY
In knowing and walking with Jesus; we are ready.
By His shed blood on the cross; we are made worthy. The bridge from Passover to Pentecost is in the form of a cross.
None of the things we have learned make us worthy without what He has done first. Without Messiah; we would have wasted our precious time. With Him; we have grown closer and closer to God and to our destined purposes in God’s Kingdom.
A NEW DAY AND A BETTER WAY
Today, Omer Count – Day 49, is the culmination of our coming into a better reality.
We stand waiting within the progress of a completed plan for change. Today is the beginning of the actualizing of these changes. All doubts have been shredded and full responsibility has been taken. We have accepted the Divine Call.
These things have been engraved upon our hearts forever. Our task has been toward growth and fulfilling our potential as a Child of God’s Kingdom.
We stand both humble and proud, waiting on that still small voice that will rumble at the foot of the mountain, the same voice that cried out at the foot of the cross.
It is finished!
Everything is in place.
Come Holy Spirit Come.
