If it is still bothering you; I understand!
Studying Deuteronomy 30 has to be better; right?
Well; yes it is.
HOPE FOR RESTORATION
Deuteronomy 30 gives us hope for restoration.
Does that mean America too?
Perhaps, like Israel, ANY other nation choosing to follow God with all their hearts, can also be restored.
We begin to see the words in Deuteronomy 30, verse 2; and when you and your children return to the LORD your God and obey him with all of your heart and with all of your soul according to everything I command you today, then the LORD your God will restore your fortunes.
This is great news!
HEART AND SOUL
It seems that sometimes when people return to God’s ways; He decides to restore their fortunes. We do have positive proof that this happened to Israel.
How many of you have saved all of your life for retirement and now face a retirement with unlimited ever-rising inflation because of the nation’s economy?
Are you afraid to take that leap and live on what you have?
How long would it last with the price of living climbing steadily up every day?
GOD IS OUR PROVISION
The good news is that God will provide for His people; no matter how impossible things look at times.
We see over and over again in the scriptures; terrible times that Israel went astray and sinned. Also we see that after a while, they returned, repented, and began to live godly lives again.
Whenever that happened; God restored their fortunes.
REMEMBER JOSEPH
Remember how God used Joseph to feed Israel and his descendants in the drought?
He fed them from the vats of Egypt where Joseph had been so faithful to listen and store up goods for the future because of the dreams God had warned him with.
Sometimes God will do the strangest things; like use the food of your enemies to feed you when it is needed. He will even give your enemy a plan for prosperity so that their prosperity will also help you.
SEEING VISIONS AND DREAMING DREAMS
There is a popular scripture in the bible that speaks of end-times. It says the old men will dream dreams and young men will see visions. That seems to be happening right now in America; just as it happened to Joseph back when Israel faced a famine in the land.
God could use any of us; just like he used Joseph.
One man with faith could turn out to be the pivotal point that brings salvation back to a whole nation of people.
You never know.
RETURNING HOME
If people become true to the ways of God again, and God restores their fortunes; He also promises to gather His people together from all the places where they have been scattered and bring them home again.
We saw two instances where the people of Israel returned from captivity.
With Zerubbabel they began to rebuild the Temple.
Then they returned again with Nehemiah; and God helped them to restore their walls and gates.
They become one people living in a fortified nation again.
It only took 70 years.
HOW LONG?
How long will it take us to rebuild this broken nation of today?
When God decides to do this for a broken and repentant nation; He promises to make the nation even more prosperous than the ancestors who established the land originally.
When people return to God with all of their heart and all of their soul; they begin to live in abundant blessings.
Have you been concerned about the fate of your grandchildren?
Set the example before them of a godly life. They will see and respond. They will eventually be even more prosperous than you – because they will have hearts that love and adore God.
LEARN FROM THE ANCIENTS
Do you think God looks at America and thinks; if only they loved me as much as those Pilgrims and Puritans?
Didn’t he look at Israel and say; “if only they loved me as much as their ancestors Abraham, Isaac and Jacob?”
God never changes.
He can help us if we let him.
His forgiveness is always available. The blessings He wants to bestow upon us are as many as the stars of the sky and the sands of the sea shore.
CHOOSE LIFE
Beginning with verse 19-20 in Deuteronomy 30, God declares: This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
This happened to Israel.
It can happen to America too.
After 70 years Israel realized and accepted and loved that God was sovereign over them. They totally gave their hearts and minds and ways back to God.
Shouldn’t we do the same?
Why wait 70 years?
The wilderness is no fun; let’s do this now and stay here in the land of promise for us!
