Have you stored your Christmas decorations yet?
Did that make you want to change your whole house up a bit; maybe even try a new color scheme?
In 2021 I used green as the color theme for Christmas. I added gold into the highlights of the room. This color scheme had never been used at our house and it turned out to be glorious.
I changed my windows to have green velvet draperies. Also, I changed our more modern chairs out for some green more classical styled chairs. The decorating themes for 2022 seem to be gravitating toward classic furnishings, so after Christmas I left the green drapes and the more-classic green chairs.
If my color theme for the next few months was going to be green, I began to wonder how that would work out with the reds of Valentine’s Day, the patriotic aspects of President’s Day, then the more formal and almost royal themes that come with Passover which fade into the pastels of spring and then the green and yellows of early summer.
I caught the vision of how all of these greens could carry over into the coming seasons very well. It would even last through Pentecost and Independence Day because of the use of so many ferns and the greenery of our plants. Those will come later this season. The flag of America stands out in a green background. It is very easy to incorporate pops of reds and blues into green backgrounds too. The yellows of the later springtime blend beautifully.
There is a beautiful set of dark green dishes I wish to order for Passover. The plates are trimmed in a formal and royal looking gold. It all would look lovely with some gold silverware added to the table.
So any new highlights in January stayed gold.
In the meantime; my white china plates will do until Passover. I can brighten them up and/or mix and match them with the darker green plates in the early spring. I’m keeping the creamy yellow drapes in the dining room because they just seem to blend with almost any theme that I decide to incorporate.
Greenery in the windows make the rooms look warmer and more inviting. I hung them with dark green velvet ribbons. Later, I want to add three more green wreaths to the kitchen areas.
There is a heart wreath on the front door now; not red but green and beige. This is a slight hint that Valentine’s Day is approaching. I’ll put most of the Valentines décor in the kitchen when the time comes; but there will be vague hints of the season in the main living areas too.
Yes; I believe these glorious greens can turn into more royal and prosperous greens for at least six more months. I’m loving the thoughts of how it all will come together and flow with whatever season is approaching next.
Today, at the end of January, I’m only to the very first stage of these greens. It is the minimalistic stage where you have had a house full of clutter during Christmas and you want to move into the more sleek, smooth lines of a clean new year in January.
January is a month to hope for prosperity. Green is a color that represents prosperity.
We are living through economic downturns in our country; so hopefully the greens will bring a change in the other direction. We not only want to be prosperous financially; but even more spiritually. The desire is to be growing our family into a happy and joyful future. I leave the green in hopes for my grandchildren’s future to be brighter.
This is my constant prayer. I pray for God to bless us so that we may pass those blessings on to them and others too.
God’s will be done.
That said; I can see a type of contentment in these greens too. They are more formal; like a signature at the end of a very important document. These green colors speak of pastures and hillsides where cattle and sheep graze to their hearts content.
Are we not all just sheep of His pasture?
I see lots of peace, stillness and contentment in these greens. It is pleasure to the soul to walk into the room and see the beautiful light streaming through the windows.
The green backdrops make for good long times of reading by the fireplace, and simple but elegant dinners with friends and family. The greens bring us into deep conversations where we explore the true values of life on this earth and we dream of making every day better as we travel through our life’s journey.
I will record a video of the reading of my third book amongst these colors and shades of green. My notes speak of Exodus and explain how we are all either in Exodus or slavery. The greens represent the prosperity of humanity coming out of slavery and into hope for the future. They speak of the peaceful green grass beside still waters where the Good Shepherd leads His sheep.
More and more I am fascinated with how these greens speak to me of the values of a life that is recovering from tyranny and deception of pandemic and stepping into the beautiful rays of sunlight again.
Yes; I like how this is evolving. You will be seeing more and more it it during the next six months because the theme of green has only began to speak to my heart and my heart always expresses itself in the main areas of our home.
