HEADING GOD’S SIGNS

COME AS A CHILD

Whether or not we stop to notice, God is always sending us transforming signs as to our calling and purpose on this earth. Are you stopping and taking the time to be heading God’s transforming signs when they come to you?

A good example is what we see in today’s lesson. This lesson speaks of the first sign God sent to Saul to confirm his transformation into the Kingship of Israel. If you missed the beginning of this story from last week’s lesson, just click this link: https://theinseasonlifestyle.com/three-signs-for-saul/.

WELCOME

Welcome to the COME AS A CHILD BIBLE STUDY held here at The IN SEASON Lifestyle blog every Thursday. Today we are studying 1 Samuel, Chapter 10. Samuel has just anointed Saul as King.

CONFIRMATION OF GOD’S SOVEREIGNTY

God’s sovereignty was confirmed and proven out to Saul as he encountered the two men near Rachael’s Tomb. This was the first of three signs that Samuel told Saul to expect. The two men Saul met in that place explained the donkeys were found just as Samuel predicted. Also; these two men expressed that Saul’s father was greatly concerned about his well-being.

So it was here, near the tomb of one of the nation’s patriarchs, that Saul received confirmation that he was being promoted to a higher calling. No longer was he that young man chasing after his father’s donkeys. He is now King over all of Israel. God confirmed this higher calling through this first sign. It allowed Saul to know beyond any doubt that this transformation process he was experiencing was real. God was behind everything that was happening, just as Samuel had proclaimed.

SIGNS FOR ALL FOLLOWERS

When God anoints someone for a higher calling, He will often show them signs. These are given to assure the person following God that they are on the right path.

Even Jesus experienced such signs from Heaven as He began to reveal His life’s calling to the people. God gave constant confirmation that Messiah would rise forever to be The King Above All Kings. We saw this at His baptism by John. There are many other passages that confirm God’s approval and encouragement during critical and important mile-markers of Messiah’s life on this earth.

Of course, the very first sign concerning the purpose for Messiah was given by God as the star of Bethlehem. We can go even further back than this though. It is possible to see the shadow of this great star if we study and understand the miracle that happened on the first Hanukkah, long before the birth of Christ.

MODERN DAY SIGNS

All men have a calling and a purpose. As happened with Jesus, Saul, David, Esther, John, Peter, Paul and many others, the scriptures proclaim how the signs of God pointed all of them into the right pathways.

Are you noticing the signs that God is pointing out to you as you go about your daily life?

Is He telling you that you have been promoted to a place of higher purpose within your gift of time?

If you aren’t watching, waiting, listening and following, you will miss so much!

DON’T MISS YOUR OWN SIGNS

What if Saul had ignored and discounted the signs that God had proclaimed to him through Samuel the prophet? He would not have become Israel’s first King.

We can always trust God to lead us, even when we feel a little shaky and unsure. The trick is as simple as taking the time and effort to listen to God’s voice, whether it be through scriptures, the voice of a godly person, or a visible sign or season which we are shown.

Are you truly listening for God’s voice as you live out life in the middle of this rushed and hurried world?

Be very careful not to miss your next life transformation.

God is constantly making all things new.

How exciting to have the opportunity to be a part of His great work on this earth.
