I love to bake these for Epiphany because they represent the wise men following the star. They are fun and delicious and they remind me that the unexpected things that God plans for us are always sweeter and better than the things that we could dream up on our own.
A star that led to a Messiah!
Only God could have written such a story.
Let’s bake our cookies:
FOLLOW THE STAR COOKIES
Ingredients:
1 cup softened butter, 2 cups all purpose flour, 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream, sugar (for sprinkling)
Directions:
Beat butter, flour and cream. Cover and refrigerate for one hour. Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface. Make dough 1/8 inch thick. Dip a two inch star cookie cutter into flour and cut cookies. Place them on an ungreased baking sheet and sprinkle with sugar. Prick the cookies with a fork to keep out air bubbles. Bake on 375 degrees for 10 minutes then cool on a wire wrack.
Use food coloring to tint cookies if you desire; or use filling in between two cookies to make cookie sandwiches (2 tsp. vanila, 1-1/2 cups confectioner’s sugar, 1/2 cup butter and 4 – 8 tspns. heavy whipping cream will make a nice and tasty filling mixture.)
Happy Epiphany – or enjoy anytime!
