I dreamed I was inside the Winner’s Circle surrounded by red, red roses and cheers and applause.
It felt so real; as real as could be.
When they asked me to speak
I stopped to pause
And pointed to my horse; who alone had managed to pull off this most noble cause.
And everyone bowed to that creature so fair,
They gave him red roses to wear in his hair.
He made me a winner that day in the circle
They will never forget
The fate that we met
And how my brave horse brought me victory yet.
Next year’s race we will award to another, for each man has his moment to speak or to stutter.
It is what you do today that matters,
So enjoy each moment even if it arrives in a flutter.
You’ll sing and you’ll dance and your horse will strut and he’ll prance,
But there is always tomorrow when you might never again have this same once-in-a-lifetime chance.
And everyone bowed to that creature so fair,
They gave him red roses to wear in his hair.
He made me a winner that day in the circle
They will never forget
The fate that we met
And how my brave horse brought me victory yet.
Take each opportunity now; as soon as it is presented
And do not wait until “some- day” when it’s passing might be regretted.
Kings and kingdoms will all fade away;
But there is a special moment we find just within today.
Live while you are alive
And cheer while you can,
And hold on to those memories as long as they span.
And everyone bowed to that creature so fair,
They gave him red roses to wear in his hair.
He made me a winner that day in the circle
They will never forget
The fate that we met
And how my brave horse brought me victory yet.
