The IN SEASON Lifestyle Community Store – February 2019
A SHORT REVIEW OF ALL THE FEBRUARY FUN
How was your month of February?
Were you living life upside down and inside out to the glory of God?
I hope so. I also hope our articles during that month inspired you to keep moving forward with a smile on your face and the love of our Creator in your heart.
So much happened in one month!
One of our greatest blessings came in the form of a long weekend visit spent with our out-of-state kids and our two precious grandsons. We had so much fun just playing and doing all the things we love to do together. There is no blessing to compare to spending quality time with family!
Please forgive me if I slightly overdo the photos of the family this month. I only get this section of our bunch together three of four times a year; so my camera was going a bit crazy; and you know we grandmothers live to share the love.
COME AS A CHILD BIBLE STUDY FOR FEBRUARY
Our COME AS A CHILD bible study almost finished Chapter Two of The Book of Numbers.
We have been discussing all the leaders of the tribes of Israel’s Army. All but one was covered during the months of January and February, and we have one leader left to discuss in March before moving on through the book.
If you missed any of the lessons; you may review them all right here: (http://MY PEACE IS GOD – COME AS A CHILD LESSON 245https://theinseasonlifestyle.com/god-has-added-lesson-246-come-as-a-child-bible-study/https://theinseasonlifestyle.com/god-has-heard-come-as-a-child-lesson-247/COME AS A CHILD – LESSON 104 – ISRAEL BLESSES JOSEPH, EPHRAIM AND MANASSEH https://theinseasonlifestyle.com/god-is-my-reward-come-as-a-child-lesson-247/https://theinseasonlifestyle.com/how-the-tribes-of-ephraim-and-manesseh-were-different-come-as-a-child-lesson-249/)
I hope you are getting the idea that all the way back in ancient times God led chosen leaders and instructed them on how to lead people through the wilderness.
These patterns are a lot like God expects the church to follow today.
When you think about it; we are all living in the wilderness of the world and we are all on a journey through the wilderness of life. Hopefully, by the grace of God; what we do here and the decisions we make in this life will take us to a better land one day.
We need to know the best way to get there.
The book of Numbers has lots of lessons about how people should respond to God’s will, even in these modern times.
In another topic section of the blog that is coming in March, we will include a seasonal article on Lent; which is actually a lot like and easily compares to the journey through the wilderness.
When I thought about this at month’s end I was amazed at how much these two parts of the blog related to each other with the thoughts of February bleeding over to March. Be sure to look for that up-coming article which will be published on March 5th.
While we are on this subject of Lent (a man-made holy season; not commanded by God, but I promise it would not displease God if you observed it) you might also want to note a very interesting book that touched my heartstrings on these subjects. The book is featured in our Community Store for February. I hope to do a review on it one day soon. The title is “40 Days of Decrease, A Different Kind of Hunger, A Different Kind of Fast” by Alicia Britt Chole.
You may find me quoting Alicia Britt Chole a lot in the future. Her writings are beautiful. When she speaks of the wilderness journey through life she says “Deserts un-clutter the soul.” We are about to see how the souls of the Israelites became uncluttered in the desert on their way to the Promised Land. Only God can bring this transformation.
If you haven’t already joined in on our every Thursday bible study (COME AS A CHILD) I hope that you will plan to participate with us beginning next Thursday. Every lesson is unto itself; but they are continuous all the way through the bible. You can always trace the blog back to lessons that you want to review from the past.
March will be full of more unique lessons from The Book of Numbers!
SEASONS
The SEASONS topics had a very busy month in February.
We started out by celebrating President’s Day with a special article honoring that day.
In further reflection about President’s Day; I hope you will pray for this leader of our country every day. No matter what your political beliefs are; whether you agree with his policy or not; he must lead our country through some very rough waters. Pray for God’s hand to guide our President and all of our country’s leaders as they try to steer the people of our land into being a model for the rest of the world. It could not be an easy job!
The next special day we celebrated in the February SEASONS topic of the blog was Valentine’s Day.
We hope you caught our story of St. Valentine ( http://WHAT IS THE REAL MEANING BEHIND VALENTINE’S DAY? ) and that you understand why we have chosen to honor him on this day. There were also articles on recipes to cook and share with your lover as well as exciting places to plan that special get-a-way that lovers so often need.
If you missed all the other Valentine’s suggestions and articles; you can review them here: http://THE VALENTINE TREE – FEATURED FOR FEBRUARY 2019 http://VALENTINE’S DAY GIFT IDEAS https://theinseasonlifestyle.com/cooking-together-for-valentines-day/ https://theinseasonlifestyle.com/weekend-get-away-gorhams-bluff/
PEN ART/MONDAY NIGHT MENUS/OH THE PLACES WE SHOULD GO
Another article in our PEN ARTS topics included some poetry that helped us to say goodbye to winter; who seems to be slowly tip-toeing out of the seasons.
To help on those last winter days we included a few good hot soup recipes in the MONDAY NIGHT MENUS topics.
Before we say goodbye to winter though; why not take one last winter excursion with the family to Blowing Rock, N.C. for a little winter fun? We featured this article in our OH THE PLACES WE SHOULD GO topics in February.
You can catch up on the winter food, poetry and travel articles we published in February right here: http://BLOWING ROCK NORTH CAROLINA – A FUN PLACE TO BE IN THE WINTER http://DELICIOUS SOUP RECIPES FOR THOSE COLD NIGHTS YET TO COME http://WINTER
We could not resist throwing in one more love story in February. The story we featured called Esther and The King was a very appropriate love story that will carry over into March for Purim festivities also. You know we think nothing is as good as a story – so if you missed it; just click here to review: http://THE STORY OF ESTHER AND THE KING
Well……goodbye winter; it has been fun! Soon we will say hello to spring!
THE HOUSE DOCTOR
THE HOUSE DOCTOR topic of the blog featured our ideas for a February House.
Don’t you love having a house for all seasons?
It definitely keeps life from becoming boring and lifts the spirits up while you are busy living out life from your home base. Here is that article if you wish to review: http://LIVING IN A FEBRUARY HOUSE – THE HOUSE DOCTOR
AN APPLE A DAY
AN APPLE A DAY featured the last article in a series of articles we have done on Mindfulness, Meditation and Yoga. I hope these have been thought-provoking articles and many have taken them to heart.
If you missed these seven articles; just click here to review the last one. Follow the features at the bottom of the articles to review the articles before that one until you have found all seven.
There is a lot to take in with these; so you might want to digest them only one article at a time. Click here to begin a review: http://MINDFULNESS, MEDITATION AND YOGA – PART SEVEN
In the coming month of March these AN APPLE A DAY articles that focus on a whole-health lifestyle will take us on a new twist.
We are going to show you some positive ways to live daily life that will produce all the same effects you are achieving with yoga; only in a God-honoring way.
Did you know there is something much better than yoga?
There is a way of meditating and being mindful that is a win/win situation for everyone; but you won’t hear these theories in your yoga classes.
Keep reading AN APPLE A DAY topics for March.
MARCH ARTICLES TO LOOK FORWARD TO
We have already mentioned some of the things that are coming in March. It is going to be an awesome month!
SEASONS
Our SEASONS topics for March are never-ending.
We will be celebrating Ash Wednesday and Lent, Purim, the beginning of Spring and St. Patrick’s Day all in one little month.
I hope you enjoy these articles.
MONDAY MENUS
The MONDAY MENUS topics for March will give you our best recipe for Corned Beef and Cabbage as well as a few other spring-related recipe ideas.
Since we are gearing up in March for more holy days and seasons coming in April of this year; we thought you might enjoy our favorite recipes for serving on The Sabbath.
We will be compiling a menu full of our favorite “special” main dishes for you soon.
Do you have some of those that you save for special days and occasions? Send them in to us with a photo and we will be happy to publish for the whole community to share.
These recipes will complement our articles that speak about the importance of observing Sabbath and keeping the Holy Days and sacred appointments that God has scheduled for us to observe with Him in time.
Look forward to it all. There will be a great mix and lots of choices of how to accomplish these things in easy and less stressful ways which the whole family will love and enjoy.
AN APPLE A DAY – CONSIDERS THE FAMILY SANCTUARY
Towards the end of this month of March we will be considering how the family Sanctuary we establish in our homes is so important and how we should be creating sanctuaries of time to spend with God within the activities of our homes. All of these thoughts just seem to tie right in with the things we have planned for April.
MARCH PEN ART
We have a few interesting book reviews and movie reviews for our PEN ART topics for March; and hopefully we will share an interview we have been working on with a young and up-coming musician. Not the one in the photo however.
