Have you ever observed the fifteen elements of a Christian Passover?
Jesus said to “Remember Me.” This is yet another way that we fulfil that promise to our Messiah. He has become the fulfillment of the meaning of Passover for the Christians. Our whole Christian belief is based upon the fact that He came for us, died for us on a wooden cross, was buried, and Resurrected on The Third Day of Passover (Early First Fruits.)
Strange as it may sound; every element of this belief we rejoice in today was foreshadowed in the deliverance of God’s people from the bondage of slavery in Egypt. This is the story of the Passover. It was a foretelling of the coming of Christ.
A Christian Passover has the same number of elements as the traditional Jewish Passover; only we relate to our belief of Jesus Christ being the Messiah and fulfilling all of the meanings of the Passover.
To put each element of the Seder (order) in very simple language we could define them in this manner:
KADESH – Blessing the wine.
URCHATZ – Washing the hands before the blessing.
KARPAS – Eating a green leafy vegetable.
YACHATZ – Raising up and breaking the middle Matzah.
MAGGID – Telling the Story of the Exodus.
RACHTZH – Washing the Hands before eating.
MOTZI – Blessing over the bread and the meal.
MATZAH – Blessing over the Matzah, with emphasis on the eating of the Matzah.
MARROR – Eating the bitter herbs.
KORECH – Eating the Matzah with bitter herbs and charoset.
SHULCHAN ORECH – The Festive Meal.
TZAFUN – Eating the Afikomen
BARECH – Grace After the Meal
HALLEL – Singing songs of praise.
NIRTZAH – The Conclusion
Above we put these elements into very simple and easy to understand languages. Each element though carries great significance when you begin to study the details. As a devotional tool, we have provided articles below that go into some of these details. To write them all would take from now to eternity and beyond. That is how significant every minute, every moment, every detail of Passover can be if we are truly worshipping the One True God of the Universe.
Enjoy the devotions we have provided as you travel through the Passover Season.
