Our studies of the life of David and his life in the wilderness of En-Gedi have taken us on an interesting side-trip. We have stepped into a place where we are discovering some pretty amazing facts about the stars of the heavens.
We’ve discussed how our God wrote His story into the sky. It happened on the fourth day of creation. Think about the wonder of that statement.
God wrote our stories into His stories. First He created our stories. Next He created us. God planned for us. He recorded that plan in the heavens. This speaks to me. It tells me that God had always longed for the pleasure of our company. He has always imagined a life with us. He wrote His dream in the sky and made it come true.
GOD IS LOVE
Knowing this one fact reminds me that “God is love.” (1 John 4:8.) The Chesed love of God constantly communicates the fact that He truly desires to be with us. This encouraging message seems to exist in every part of the creation, even in the skies above us. Everything God created became a silently coded message that says “I love you.”
(Genesis 1:14) And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years.
David knew that God numbered our days with His own special calendar. He understood that God set aside certain seasons called Moedim. David observed these times. He understood these times were special. David observed all of these times and seasons of God’s calendar in the sky. How did he learn them? He was a shepherd living under the stars of the night skies.
THE STORIES IN THE STARS
On the sixth day of creation week God created mankind. This happened two biblical days AFTER the creation of the stars in the sky. On the fourth day He created the sun, moon and stars.
The whole universe began to follow the lines of that script. The heavens and earth conformed to the pictures God painted into the firmament on the fourth day. Now, knowing God’s story becomes as simple as looking up into the night sky.
Yet, most godly-thinking people never realize this awesome fact. Sometimes things are hiding in plain sight. People simply are not using their eyes to see. Most Christians are totally unaware of the facts which the stars of the heavens proclaim.
THE DECEIVED
I suppose good, healthy reasons back up that statement. There are many wondrous things which men do not yet know or understand. Satan loves deceptions which lie and keep us from believing in God. He has totally corrupted the Zodiac within the use of astrology. It is now full of Satan’s crafty lies. Like everything else, astrology started out pure and true. Satan corrupted it. God warned us not to use astrology.
This study of the stars is more a science of astronomy. Astronomy isn’t discouraged by God. It is not a sin. There is a strong possibility that astronomy could be one of the many amazing gifts from The Messiah to his Bride. It is a tool for knowing that He is going to return for us one day. We can read the family history by using this gift called astronomy. The wise men who followed the stars to find Jesus used astronomy. They understood the secrets hidden in God’s stars. We can do the same.
This clarification between astronomy and astrology gives us the freedom to go out to that huge museum in the sky called the Mazzaroth. Once there, we can admire our Creator’s artwork. There we can enjoy His ancient way of sharing His own beautiful form of literature. We can read the stories He has written in His own unique and special way. These are the stars that tell the stories of His people to His people.
Inside the Mazzaroth we can find the story of David.
AWE AND WONDER
I had to wonder, are all of our stories written somewhere out there too? Have you looked to see?
Did you know that every star has a name and a story? What else can we learn from the light of the heavens? Let’s keep looking up.
Many of the ancient people did not have the writings we enjoy from the holy scriptures. Most of the ancients did not know how to read. Perhaps the stars were the first way they knew to discern God’s stories.
TWO TYPES OF KNOWLEDGE
We learned from Adam and Eve that knowledge can be used for good or evil. At the destruction of the tower of Babel, all languages were disrupted. Temporarily, mankind’s ability to share stories came to an end.
Pictures are a universal language. You don’t need to speak to communicate with pictures. Any person speaking any language could look up into the sky and read God’s people’s history. He has written every story right into the skies. This is such a beautiful example of the grace of our Eternal God. He always makes a way for those who suffer from the sins of others. He always shows the faithful a way to find Him.
HOW THIS RELATES TO US
Okay. Why are we bringing all of this up in the middle of our study of The Books of Samuel and the life of David?
David’s stories seem to be one of God’s favorite subjects. We will look at how David’s stories are written in the sky. Aren’t the ways of God amazing? That story referring to David’s life appears to be how we came to have the stories living within the constellation called Capricorn which is one of the twelve constellations in the Mazzaroth.
WHAT IS THE SOURCE OF THIS INFORMATION?
Robert L. Williams, Jr. has studied the Mazzaroth for years. His writings are public knowledge. He is convinced that the story of the all of the Hebrew people is told in the constellations within the Mazzaroth. My research for the information for this lesson comes from the fascinating readings of his writings. He is a Christian, a believer of Messiah, who backs up all of his studies with scripture. DETAILS ABOUT CAPRICORN AND DAVID
Most of the ancients recognized the sign of Capricorn. They accurately named a portion of this constellation The Mansion of the Kings. As we continue to study David’s life, I will be pointing back to these particular star formations from time-to-time. They are just one more confirmation of The Glory of God and how David was “a man after God’s own heart.”
Within the sign of Capricorn, is the minor constellation of Sagitta (known as “the Arrow.) I immediately thought of how David and Jonathan communicated through archery.
In Sagitta’s area of Capricorn we can see the resemblance of a crown. It is a nebula which consists of a bright ring that measures about two light-years across. The crown-shape of these stars is dotted with knots which glow brightly. The glow comes from the ultraviolet lights of the central stars. This resembles the diamonds of a necklace, or even the diamonds of a lovely royal crown.
Next week we will learn more of the life of Saul, David and Jesus which is revealed within this constellation called Capricorn. I never cease to be amazed at the places God takes us. My heart is in constant awe of the incredible ways He choses to teach us.
Be prepared next week to learn more information about the stars which tell David’s story. Knowing God is to know great glory! We know Him through the stories He tells us. Sometimes He even writes them in the stars.
