SORTING THE GOOD APPLES (INFORMATION) FROM THE BAD
When I first began sorting out the information to write about the topic of moving toward a healthier lifestyle; it quickly occurred to me that we are living in a fascinating age.
There is so much good information available, yet; there is also a lot of false information to weed out.
Basically; I’m simply sharing my own trial and error experiences. This particular information is sort of like two neighbors discussing their health goals over a good cup of coffee in their spare time. However; I do have the goal to keep it all as accurate as possible.
SOME HEALTH INFORMATION ISN’T EXACTLY HEALTHY
Some parts of this journey have been a bit discouraging to report.
It seems on some days that everyone and his brother have suddenly decided to become a “health-expert.” I certainly don’t want to be put into that category myself. I determined right from the start of these articles to be very careful about diligent research for all of my posts.
Misleading people with bad information is one thing; but misleading someone when it comes to their health and well-being is a very serious issue. I would never attempt to do that; and that is why I make the disclaimer right up front that I am not an expert, simply a companion on this journey sharing my own experiences. Please carefully research ANY health advice you find on the internet!
A person on such a journey as this has to approach everything very carefully and be very sure that all they say is truth.
I would rather ignore a subject completely than give out erroneous information.
Still; I encourage you to do your own backup research and consult your physician with any changes that you decide to make based on any of my remarks in this column.
Nothing I say here is professional medical advice.
IT WILL BE UP TO YOU TO VERIFY THE VALIDITY OF ANY INFORMATION
Again I will note; I am NOT a medical doctor. Let the record be clear on that fact. I am simply a common everyday person trying to pursue good health who is sharing my experiences as I go along.
Follow with me at your own risk. I am human, believe it or not; and I do make mistakes sometimes; but never on purpose.
I desire to write about things that people are interested in knowing. The research I do for each article is extensive. Verifying the information two or three different ways is my normal practice; still sometimes things slip through the cracks and errors can happen.
All I can promise you is that I will not deliberately mislead you; or try to obtain any personal gain at your expense. It is my goal to note those out there who ARE doing such things.
PART OF BEING HEALTH CONSCIOUS IS LEARNING NOT TO FALL FOR EVERY GIMMICK THAT COMES ALONG
If you use the internet at all, or listen to today’s popular media; you quickly learn that you have to file a lot of today’s health information in the trash can. Some, if not most of our so-called “experts,” are simply out to empty our bank accounts and leave us feeling even worse than when we started.
One of my goals is to point these “gimmicks” out so that we can avoid them on our journey to better health.
WHEN IN DOUBT; CONSULT A PROVEN EXPERT
I decided to counter this aspect of the health quest with some plain old common sense backed up by a lot of studious layman’s research coupled with some trusty expert professional consulting whenever I need help.
Because of this; from time-to-time there will be guest bloggers from specific fields of expertise. These guest bloggers will cover the more specific topics I do not feel comfortable with; or am not qualified to cover.
Even experts can make mistakes. As I’ve thought about writing my own thoughts and even inviting others to give advice from their fields of expertise; I set a goal to choose carefully and wisely.
SO LET’S BEGIN AN APPLE A DAY!
With all of these precautions safely in place the quest officially began!
I started thinking in terms of actually writing “AN APPLE A DAY.”
The interesting idea quickly worked around to becoming a fascinating reality.
The 365 day quest from AN APPLE A DAY began to come to life.
