LOOKING BACK OVER SEPTEMBER

September where did you go?

For the second month in a row I’m catching myself saying “I didn’t get it all written down in the blog!”

HOLY DAY ACTIVITIES

The whole month was FULL of Holy Day activities; which were wonderful things to be taking up our time.

No complaints here!

Wasn’t it great to have so much time to worship over The Feast of Trumpets, The Day of Atonement and The Feast of Tabernacles?

I hope you enjoyed all of the articles we posted about these days. If you missed any of them; you can review them again here: APPLES AND HONEY FOR A CHRISTIAN CELEBRATION OF THE FEAST OF TRUMPETS  A CHRISTIAN OBSERVANCE OF YOM KIPPUR – THE DAY OF ATONEMENT – SEASONS  THEREFORE; LET US KEEP THE FEAST! – A CHRISTIAN CELEBRATION OF SUKKOT – SEASONS  THE RAM’S HORN – ROSH HASHANAH MEDITATIONS – MEDITATION 2 – SEASONS  THE RAM’S HORN – ROSH HASHANAH MEDITATIONS – MEDITATION 2 – SEASONS

PEN ART STORIES TO SHARE

Some of my favorite articles for September were the Sukkah Series Stories.

There are actually seven stories to this series that we read to our children (grown-up-children are included) and grandchildren every year at The Feast of Tabernacles.

If you missed seeing the five that we posted; you may review them here: ABRAHAM’S SUKKAH – FROM THE SUKKAH STORIES SERIES- STORY ONE ISAAC’S SUKKAH – STORY TWO FROM THE SUKKAH SERIES STORIES  THE SUKKAH THAT JACOB BUILT – STORY THREE IN THE SUKKAH STORIES SERIES  THE SUKKAH OF JOSEPH – STORY FOUR – FROM THE SUKKAH STORIES SERIES  THE SUKKAH OF MOSES – PART FIVE OF THE SUKKAH STORIES SERIES

THE IN SEASON LIFESTYLE COMMUNITY STORE FOR SEPTEMBER

The whole Sukkah Stories Series written by Sheila Gail Landgraf (yours truly)  will be coming out in booklet format soon. The beautifully illustrated little booklets will come with a larger package that includes a beautiful story telling version of our Family Tree for September called The Heritage Tree.   I’m so excited to be offering this to our community!  It is a fascinating way to tell your children and grand children the stories we all love and cherish so much.  Be watching our products section and The IN SEASON Lifestyle Community Store for this coming feature.  Of course; our community will be the first to know when it is available for purchase.  If you haven’t signed up for the monthly Newsletters that keep our community up-to-date; please do!

Speaking of special purchases; here is the link to The IN SEASON Lifestyle Community Store for our September articles products:  https://theinseasonlifestyle.com/september-store/.

Most everything we advertised in September was bible-related because of the Holy Days of God we were going through.

Our grands enjoyed many of the books about Sukkot for The Feast of Tabernacles visits this year.

YET ANOTHER FALL HURRICANE AND A CHANGE OF PLANS FOR OUR FEAST TIME THIS YEAR

Perhaps you discovered from reading my comments that our house reservations on the beach were cancelled for us because of flooding issues caused from Hurricane Florence.

We are still praying for those that are recovering from this terrible hurricane. Our heart goes out to you!

We enjoyed our feast time right inside the comfort of our own home this year; but God showed up there too!

I guess our regular homes could be considered “temporary shelters” too when you consider that we will find our permanent homes in heaven one day. This world is just a vast wilderness that we are passing through. We certainly DID enjoy the journey for the week of Tabernacles.

Our four grown children, and their spouses and children made our unexpected week at home very special; and we all felt the pouring out of God’s blessings in spite of our cancelled travel plans.  My Mom even dropped in to see us for some of the time!

I actually wrote about how God sometimes changes our plans for His plans in our COME AS A CHILD weekly bible study this month. I hope you caught all of the lessons. If not; you can review them here: GATHERING OLIVE OIL FOR THE LAMPS – COME AS A CHILD – LESSON 228  WHEN GOD PLANS A DIFFERENT EVENT THAN YOURS – COME AS A CHILD – LESSON 228  THEREFORE; LET US KEEP THE FEAST! – A CHRISTIAN CELEBRATION OF SUKKOT – SEASONS  THE CALENDAR OF GOD IS SPELLED OUT TO MOSES – COME AS A CHILD – LESSON 227

OCTOBER IS HERE

How I LOVE the beautiful month of October!

Fall has been slow coming to our home in Alabama this year; so we hope to see more of it’s majesty in this new month of October.

POETRY

We have some fall poetry in store for you, as well as many local fall articles about seasonal harvest festivities in our local area.

HARVEST FESTIVALS

We are going to look in on Baker’s Farm and Homestead Hollow. We are hoping to make the Pumpkin Patch excursion of the Heart of Dixie Railroad in Calera, Alabama. There is an Ozan Vineyard train ride too; possibly we will do the dinner car this year. The leaves will be turning and the ride will be wonderful; not to mention the food. We will report on these old favorites as well as chase down the facts about a few new local and vintage adventures for fall.

Our MONDAY MENU section is going to tickle your taste buds with a few things “pumpkin” too. We might have a few new apple and squash recipes to add to the seasonal meals collection in our fall menus.

ORCHARD AND VINEYARD DECORATING THEMES

THE HOUSES DOCTOR is still into the vineyard/Tuscany/orchard-styled themes for this season.   We are enjoying capturing some of these creative ideas on camera elsewhere and even into our own home and we are admiring those areas in other homes that we have had the pleasure to visit.  Expect a few unusual fall decorating ideas to come from this interest and they will be coming your way soon.

I’ll give you a little hint about some of the home-front changes we have made; it isn’t all pumpkins and scarecrows here this year; we have a few new little fall twists that are leaning more on the classical/traditional/modern side.

These new themes could get us prepared to walk into a less-than-traditional Thanksgiving theme for this year. (Sorry, that won’t be coming until November.)

BIBLE STUDY

The COME AS A CHILD (every Thursday) bible study is still going strong in the Book of Leviticus. Please make plans to check in on us each Thursday.  There are only seven more lessons left before we move on into the Book of Numbers.

OH THE PLACES WE SHOULD GO

We are going to peek into the streets of a few artsy little mountain towns that everyone can enjoy touring in our OH THE PLACES WE SHOULD GO columns in October.

Currently we plan to feature some articles about Saluda, Black Mountain and Banner Elk. We might also talk a little about the arts district of Asheville, NC too; so don’t miss it!

PIECES OF THE PUZZLE AND AN APPLE A DAY

PIECES OF THE PUZZLE and AN APPLE A DAY topics are both going to feature all the thoughts I’ve pondered and gathered over the last six months on whether or not a Christian should participate in Yoga.

Also; we will be discussing the ever popular subjects of meditation and mindfulness.

Some of these things will ring positive; and some will be negative; but I promise you won’t get such an honest, open or sincere critique from any other source these days.

PEN ART

Our PEN ART section of the blog will have some art exhibits on display that you might not have discovered yet.

Fall just seems to bring out the artist in all of us.

We could also get a bit crafty this month; and we might even pull out our pen and get into some new fall fiction writing.

October will be full of fabulous surprises; so come on in and get to know our community better.

It is all happening at The IN SEASON Lifestyle.

Don’t miss a minute!

HAPPY FALL YOU’ALL!!!
