Why do I write so much and so often about SEASONS?
THE SEASONS SPEAK OF DAILY LIFE
If I were to pick the two most important themes that all of humanity have in common, and name the themes that most clearly define the moments that make up all of the days of every life in general; I would pick the two themes called “seasons” and “times.”
These two subjects are great friends who naturally go together. They tend to walk hand-in-hand through our lives. Each compliment and define one another. Seasons are full of “times” and times are full of “seasons.” Times and seasons are HUGE in making our lives more interesting and more community oriented.
I FIND THE EVOLUTION OF SEASONS FASCINATING
I have come to realize that seasons and times are very important and VERY special.
Hence; I ALWAYS pay attention to them, probably more than most people. I’m always fascinated with how the times and seasons tend to evolve throughout our lives. I catch myself constantly praising God and giving thanks for the specific seasons and times in which we have been given to live out the life that He has breathed into each of us.
PRACTICALLY EVERYTHING WE DO IS SEASONAL IN SOME WAY
If you stopped to think about every passing moment that you have ever lived, and I then asked you to describe them; you would most likely describe to me something about a “season” or a “time.” These are the two elements that all the categories of everything we do in our lives have in common.
Everything about this life on earth happens in time; and in a similar fashion; everything happens in a season of time. Most people never give this a second thought. They just assume that is just the way that life pans out. Yet; It is pretty amazing how many times our lives are sorted out and divided up by these two particular themes.
A thinking person has to consider why this is so.
Almost every facet of our days are associated in some way with a particular “season” or a “particular” time. I don’t think it is a coincidence that our brains work this way or that we use those two defined categories to sort out our most vivid memories of living life.
SEASONS BRING A SPECIAL KIND OF MAGIC INTO OUR ORDINARY DAYS
Seasons and times give our ordinary days some sort of almost magical and special effect.
They brighten up our whole outlook during the many different stages of our lives. They bring us things to hope for and look forward to.
SEASONS GIVE US HOPE, ANTICIPATION AND RENEWAL
Each season is something to look forward to, and something to anticipate with joy.
As each season changes we too seem to change our pace. The new season quickens our steps and awakens us to new thoughts and ideas.
SEASONS BRING US COMMUNITY
Seasons are a great way for people to share life together. Each season teaches us to love better.
I believe it is this quiet process of living through certain seasons and times in our lives as we notice and pay attention to what God is at work doing; that we are shown and proven our own personal destinies.
SEASONS ARE CONSTANTLY REVEALING NEW THINGS TO US
The seasons and times seem to reveal things to us in a much clearer way than ordinary day-to-day insights. Maybe this is because we tend to slow down and notice more as the seasons and times begin to change. As each season just seems to melt into one another year after year, patterns of who and what we are become more vivid and clear. This process happens for all of us as we live and evolve inside of God’s time.
Seasons and times seem to be how God shapes and defines us through the living of our lives. These seasonal changes tend to mold and make us into what God intended for us to be all along. The seasons underline and define the process as we go.
SEASONS ARE HOW WE LEARN TO BE REAL
I think God created each of us for a specific reason (maybe lots and lots of specific reasons) and each of us can usually identify with the many different things that make us able to live into our own unique seasons and times.
For most of us, the seasons and times of our life turn out to be the places where God teaches us how to be REAL. They authenticate our being and reason for existing on the earth. We each learn in different ways, but we all have seasons and time in which to explore and experience life in every stage. God uses seasons and times to teach us how to live.
CLOSE YOUR EYES AND IMAGINE YOUR BEST SEASON IN LIFE
If you haven’t really considered this before just close your eyes and imagine the best season of your life so far.
What was there?
Now close your eyes and imagine the worst time in your life so far.
What did you learn during that time?
How has the time which has already passed helped you to live into your best season’s gifts, and how has this season of life helped you to let go of your worst season’s problems?
ALL OF OUR SEASONS COMBINED MAKE UP THE WHOLE OF OUR LIVES
Do you think you would be the same person without either of the best or the worst of your seasons?
There is an old Jim Croce song that says: ”there never seems to be enough time to do the things you want to do once you find them.” I’ve always thought this line of the song is profound. Who among us ever feels like they have enough time to do all the little things that show how much they love others?
SEASONS HELP US TO SORT OUT THE BEST IN LIFE
We ALL desire to learn to live life with intention and purpose; but in reality we can’t actually ever get around to it in just the way we would really like; we simply run out of time, and before we can blink that season has passed and there is nothing we can do. We can’t go back in time. All we can do is hope to live better in the future.
We live and learn through our seasons and times, and the good thing is they come back around again and again.
SEASONS GIVE US SECOND CHANCES
We get more than one chance to make the most of our seasons and times. We take what we have learned in each passing season and grow and stretch and revise and restore our habits and natures and hearts. I am so grateful for that!
If you generally flunk Life 101 in any given year, you simply ponder what went wrong and hopefully try to do better the next year in another season and time. Thus it is in living through seasons and times that we learn the art of intentional living as we move forward.
THE SEASONS ORIGINATED FROM THE GREATEST SOURCE OF INTELLIGENCE
Have you ever stopped to really ponder WHY we have times and seasons?
Where did they originate and where did they come from?
Is there a basic reason why every day isn’t always the same as the next?
Do you even realize that it was God who created time and put mankind inside of it?
God is eternal and He stands outside of time. However, God wanted to be closer to mankind, so on the very first week as He created the world; He made a special way to come inside our time with us, whenever He (or we) needed.
Isn’t that amazing?
THE SACRED TIMES ARE MY FAVORITE SEASONS
The sacred times are my favorite times and seasons. The pages of these posts will have at least a million words on every such time. I hope you find them as fascinating as I do. Please don’t expect the usual “in-the-box” points of view; but come with an open mind and we will discuss these mysteries here as we ponder all seasons and times.
I WANT US TO EXPLORE THE WONDER OF TIMES AND SEASONS
It is my desire for all of us to explore times and seasons together and ponder all their miraculous qualities. I want to discuss sacred times and appointed times and regular ordinary times and sacred holy days and seasons as well as the regular holidays and seasons of our culture.
TIME IS ALWAYS RUNNING OUT
Every day the clock ticks off 24 more hours.
Let’s make every time and season a time to love, worship, live and play together.
I’m loving that we can share the seasons of life here in The IN SEASON Lifestyle as we journey through time together and live inside out and upside down.
