ROSH CHODESH KISLEV 5786
Have you made the discovery that each new month on God’s original calendar is a prophetic season unto itself? The new month of Kislev is arriving. Let’s look into the things we know and understand of Kislev. Perhaps we can learn more of the unfolding progression of the steady rhythms of God’s calendar. These facts might help us to appreciate how we live out our great gift of time. Specifically, let’s look at the new month called Kislev.
KISLEV 5786
Similar to the phases of the moon, we all must go through phases of emptiness in order to feel full again. That is one of the strange mysterious patterns of life. In the moment of this writing about the new moon, the moon as well as ourselves are beginning to pass through the darkness.
Put away your worries. The new moon is on its way. Soon it will appear as a tiny slither of a speck in the sky. Right on time. Just as God ordained from the foundations of the world. YHWH set the rhythm of His clock and placed us inside this great gift of time. Do you feel the darkness turning toward the light?
The new moon and the new month of Kislev for 5786 begins at sunset on Thursday, November 20, 2025. The first day of this new Hebraic month continues until sunset on Friday, November 21, 2025.
SOME FACTS ABOUT KISLEV
We are coming out of the month of Cheshvan. For many it was a month of chaos and confusion. This new month, Kislev, will bring some relief. Kislev is known for being a month of miracles, dreams, hope, trust and light. Those are things I can deal with. How about you?
KEEP DREAMING
The Torah portions are full of stories about the dreams of God’s people. Many of the stories we cover will be about Joseph’s dreams. He is a type and shadow of Yeshua. In a sense, these dreams of Joseph are a type of Yeshua’s dreams for His people. How are we going to respond to Yeshua’s dreams for the world?
In this month of dreams it is appropriate that the sense referred to for Kislev is sleep. You have to sleep to dream. Are you resting in God’s will? This is the rest we must experience in order to receive visions and dreams from Heaven. It is the month of trust. Let go of self-control and let God determine the outcome of things. He has all the answers. When you can do this you will rest better. If you rest better, you will dream dreams from God.
THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS
How fitting that it is our time to celebrate the meanings behind that first original Hanukkah. At The IN SEASON Lifestyle blog we will be celebrating the season from the perspective of a Christian believer who knows Yeshua as Messiah and The Light of the World. They call Hanukkah The Festival of Lights for a reason. Yeshua is the Light of the World and we are the lights that are reflecting Him.
We’ve come to believe that first Hanukkah with its lasting miracle of light represented a prophecy of the first-coming of Yeshua. However, many who celebrate that first miracle have not begun to see the fulfillment of this further and greater miracle we call the Conception of Christ. Pray for all eyes to be opened to see the further and greater Light of the World. It is our desire for all to come to know Yeshua. He loves each and every one of us.
In this season we know Him as Emmanuel. Emmanuel means “God with us.” This Hanukkah, as Christians, we will celebrate the conception of Yeshua.
LOVELY SONG FOR A LOVELY SEASON
Lauren Daigle sang a song about this subject. I have to wonder if she knew it carried a “Hanukkah” meaning for Christianity in the lyrics? If you wish to listen, click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cLhaZIBSpo. I fully intend to include this amazing and joyful song in our Hannukah celebrations for this year.
One wonderful aspect of the Hebraic month of Kislev is that it is the season in which Yeshua was conceived. It became our very first glimpse of God coming down to live among us. Now that is a perfect reason to celebrate this month. There will be many other articles in the blog about the oxymoron we are calling a Christian Hanukkah, so keep reading our Seasons topics all the way through Kislev.
A GREAT REVIEW OF THE MEANING OF KISLEV
This time of the new moon is always fascinating. No month is the same. I usually write an article each new moon describing the Hebraic month we are crossing into. Of course I set out to do this for Kislev. There is SO MUCH to think about this month. It is a beautiful, trusting, growing, thriving month to live into.
During my study and research I listened to a video by Megan Marcellino, who is one of my favorite teachers when it comes to understanding God’s calendar. I loved her take of Kislev so much that I simply decided to post a link to her you tube video for our readers. Here is her amazingly convicting, informative and exciting talk. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULm3kRDPixw.
BEGINNING IN THE RIGHT PLACE
As a matter of fact, after listening to this talk, I had to do a little repenting and rededicating myself. The past month of Cheshvan was probably the worst I’ve ever experienced in my whole life. Too many life changes were happening too fast for me to soak in at once. I needed to be three people in order to keep up with all that was expected of me. Unexpected events came out of the woodwork. Many things were hard and nothing was easy.
My usual good natured attitude was not the greatest. I was often selfish and I complained a lot. Therefore, I let myself become completely overwhelmed and forgot to ask God for that peace and the heart of a servant Megan speaks of in this video. I couldn’t walk into the new month without consulting God’s forgiveness. After that prayer I felt God’s immediate forgiveness and the courage to face the rest of these overwhelming challenges that have recently come my way. It is great to have a lighter burden. Nothing I could do on my own helped, but when I asked Yeshua, He came and carried what I could not. My gratitude knows no bounds. I hope this review will do the same for you.
COMING UP LATER
We may have a few short Kislev articles to add to the blog later this month. Kislev is one of those months that needs breaking down. It is so much easier to take each point one at a time instead of diving into a whole long overview of the meaning of the month and the historical and biblical patterns that can be discerned.
Also, so much of Kislev is about Hanukkah. We will definitely be speaking more on that subject. I hope you find yourself worshiping The Light of The World all through this beautiful season.
Shalom, my friends. May God bless you in finding and knowing your purpose and destiny in Kislev.
