For Omer Count – Day Five. we meditate on the Chesed with Hod. Hod means “humble glory.” We are thinking of how humility correlates with Chesed which means “loving-kindness.”
The question here is how can we live out humility in loving-kindness?
HUMILITY/LOVING-KINDNESS
For Omer count – day five we need to ask ourselves some hard questions.
Have you become unforgiving with your love?
Does it always have to be your way or nothing?
Can you find it within your heart to rise above yourself and forgive the one you love purely for the sake of love, even if you are convinced you are right about an issue, and your lover is wrong?
Have you become arrogant with your love?
GOD IS LOVE
A true lover will always love. The purest love always forgives. Love is easy when there are no challenges to overcome. When you can love and forgive in spite of disagreements, you display Chesed with Hod.
Have you quarreled with someone and not resolved the issue? Try to see things from the other person’s perspective. Learn how to forgive others for lacking the understanding that you might have. This doesn’t make their actions right, but it releases you from being uncompassionate. We are all at different place in this journey through life.
Some have come from a different journey. Many are still learning how to love. Talk with them from where they are instead of where you are. Try to reach a better connection that will strengthen the love for both parties.
A GREAT EXAMPLE
Just Between Us Blog/Magazine reminds us of the story of Corrie Ten Boom. Their story remembers how she forgave the man who once held her prisoner in a concentration camp. Here is a link that will refresh your memory of that story. https://justbetweenus.org/overcoming-adversity/finding-forgiveness/a-story-of-forgiveness/. I would say, that right under the way Jesus died for us, this might be the best example of how a human struggles with being humble and showing loving kindness by forgiving someone who has wronged them.
This forgiveness never rights the wrong. The sin of the other person is still a sin. It just released that person to the hope of changing and transforming from evil to good.
HEALING PRAYER:
Father; we are all guilty of overlooking this attribute of your nature which provides total forgiveness to one who repents, even when someone is completely wrong. The first verse we learn as children is “God is Love,” yet it takes this truth of complete love sinking deep inside our hearts to help us have the courage to always do the right thing and forgive what sometimes seems unforgivable.
Help us to be strong and courageous with our love. Help us to show your type of humility and to combine it with loving-kindness toward others.
