Winter is my favorite “reading season.” There are so many awesome books out there this year. However; many of my favorites have actually been around for a while. Maybe you caught them; maybe you did not. If not; don’t miss them! These great books are just waiting to be discovered by people who love to pull a chair up to the fire and zone out of the cares of the world for just a little while during this winter.
Below I’ve listed my favorite oldies-but-goodies, as well as new-to-the-market book choices for this winter. You many find them all as well as their details and purchase them directly through the Amazon links that I provide here. The price of the books will be the same whether you purchase them directly from Amazon or my website; but I do sometimes make a small commission based on the number of Amazon clicks and purchases from my site (at no cost to you); so I would appreciate you making your purchases through our blog site whenever possible.
Winter has definitely set in for the season; so go get your books now before this time passes you by!!!!!!

Happy reading!
MY FIRST CHOICE
A fantastic book written by a good friend and colleague; Vona Elkins, about my favorite biblical character – RUTH.
MY SECOND CHOICE
Written by Kristin Schell – Introducing the concept of The Turquoise Table. It could change the world!
MY THIRD CHOICE
Written by an author I have loved and adored from afar for years – Ann Voskamp. This is not her latest book; but one of her first. I also love all of her books about Advent but I will tell you more about those in their proper season. One Thousand Gifts is timeless and amazing. Another book that could change the world forever for the good! It is guaranteed to give you a new insight on starting a new year.
MY FOURTH CHOICE
My favorite fictional/Christian romance author is Rachel Hauck. She has many great fictional books that come in sequence; so be sure you read the ones that come before your favorites first. This is the first of a sequence of three; and you will find the other two when you click into the details of this one. If you watched Hallmark over the holidays during this past Christmas season you saw some of her best stories that were produced into movies. I’m going to go out on a limb and say I thought the books were even better than the movies; though I did love the movie productions too. My favorite of many of these great writings is THE WEDDING DRESS.
MY FIFTH CHOICE
Probably the best and most interesting book I’ve ever read for pleasure: Hadassah by Tommy Tenney. My husband gave me this book for Valentine’s Day one year long ago; and I’ve re-read it almost every year since. I’ve given it to my daughter’s as gifts before their weddings. The story is familiar; but you have never read the details or heard the telling of the story done so carefully and exquisitely.
MY SIXTH CHOICE
Biblical Holidays – by Robin Sampson and Linda Pierce. If you have a Hebraic heart like mine, you will love this well thought out book that gives every detail you need for incorporating and implementing God’s Holy Days into your own home worship.
MY SEVENTH CHOICE
My favorite cookbook recommendation for 2018 is the TUPELO HONEY CAFE –
SPIRITED RECIPES FROM ASHEVILLE’S NEW SOUTH KITCHEN cookbook by Elizabeth Sims with Chef Brian Sonoskus. It is the one with the yellow jacket. Amazing and refreshing recipes. If you have been to any of the restaurants; you will understand exactly why I love this cookbook so much. Put a little Tupelo honey into your family dinners!
MY EIGHTH CHOICE
Just as good as the first cookbook mentioned above but in a totally different way; is the TUPELO HONEY CAFE NEW SOUTHERN FLAVORS FROM THE BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS by Elizabeth Sims with Chef Brian Sonoskus. It is the one with the blue jacket. If you like Southern, their twists will only improve it!
MY NINTH CHOICE
One of my favorite theologians is Eugene Peterson. Sure, he has made a few mistakes and blunders along the way, but the quality of his main works totally make up for one little wrong statement that could have been easily misinterpreted by the public and the media at large. I’m still giving him full credit for turning out some awesome books on theological thought. My very favorite is Christ Plays In Ten Thousand Places.
MY TENTH CHOICE
Fannie Flagg’s I STILL DREAM ABOUT YOU couldn’t help but make my list. One of the best fictional books ever. It has been around awhile. I love anything that Fannie Flagg has written and have several other favorites from this cherished Alabama author.
