For the past few weeks we have been discussing the health benefits of taking care of your heart.
Did you know that falling in love improves your heart health?
It does!
Also, I can guarantee you (with scripture references) that falling in love is totally, 100 percent, God approved. We could start with Genesis 2:23-24: The man said: “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, for she was taken out of man. That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.”
The health benefits of the above description are now a scientifically proven fact. Those who love; seem to have healthier hearts.
What a great thing to know and understand as we all arrive at Valentine’s Day of 2022. I doubt the rest of the world has been reassuring you of this fact! You heard it here first.
So what have you done today that is heart healthy?
Have you given candy, flowers, a special event or occasion or treat to your someone special? That is probably the healthiest thing you could have done today – so go ahead and splurge!
It has been recently documented that spending time with a loved one actually lowers your blood pressure.
Maybe you haven’t made that special connection yet; and you are just in the middle of a yet-to-be-revealed romantic crush.
Even that little event is good for your heart!
Go figure.
If you are crushing on someone new and your eyes meet theirs across a crowded room – it makes your heart race. This racing of the heart makes your brain release hormones (dopamine, adrenaline and norepinephrine) and these chemicals tend to make your heart beat faster and stronger.
So I’m happy to report that those crushes you are hiding are actually healthy. Bet no one else has ever told you that fact; huh? Quit worrying about it and enjoy your new found health habit.
Also – please go on to the next step.
Not only is that good news; but it has also been reported that hugs are even better for your heart.
So go ahead and walk across that room when you come to that enchanted evening that your eyes meet. Consider a hug because they really are healthy. It could be your greeting; instead of a handshake. If your eyes have been speaking to each other already; it will be well received.
This magical thing called hugging happens and causes your body to release oxytocin whenever you hug someone.
To be honest here; it doesn’t even have to be a lover, it can be your parent or your child – but hugs release a “feel-good” hormone and this tends to relieve the stress levels in your body.
We all need reduced stress; right? Go ahead and give out a few hugs; see if you don’t feel better.
I dare you!
Once you get brave enough to cross the room and speak to that person who makes your heart beat faster; that person that you are just dying to hug – you might want to tell them a good joke too.
No – I’m not joking.
It is said that laughter is good for the heart.
Why not share some laughter and thus also share the benefits of improved health?
This is true because laughter is said to open those blood vessels that tend to get restricted when we are stressed. It has now been proven that laughter works better than statin drugs or even aerobic exercise for reducing stress levels.
If you want to keep your heart healthy just go on out there and find that special person who keeps you laughing. Your hearts will beat together for much longer than the average serious romance.
Wait though; there is more good news; especially for those of you who love to write.
Did you realize that writing a love letter can help to control your cholesterol?
It can.
Try it – I dare you.
This is a proven fact. Not only will the person receiving the letter feel gifted and cherished; you too will feel an increase in the health of your heart. Now that is a win/win situation.
What are you waiting for?
Want another reason to fall in love?
Did you know that holding the hand of someone you love reduces anxiety and steadies the nerves?
This happy moment promotes heart health.
A healthy person isn’t a nervous person – a person holding someone’s hand who cares about them is going to feel a whole new level of comfort. It is true; and this is heart healthy.
Are you an emotional person?
Do your emotions affect you in a bad way?
Perhaps you should try falling in love. Researchers looking for people who were feeling joy, happiness, excitement, enthusiasm and contentment, found these things more prevalent in people who showed a positive outlook on life. Such people have a lower level of cardiovascular disease.
Well; love is a deep subject, and I can talk to you about the health benefits of love all day long; but you have to be brave enough to go on out there and take the risk to love someone.
It is one risk that just might eventually save your life.
Think about it!
Happy Valentine’s Day (early)!
