GREAT THOUGHTS OF A PAST PRESIDENT

There is a president from America’s past I wish to honor with this article today. It is not really so much about the person himself; but more about the great amounts of wisdom that he left behind.

I wish to ponder what I consider to be some of the greatest quotes and thoughts from one of America’s best presidents of the past.

My thoughts are of former President Ronald Reagan.

A MAN OF WISDOM AND GOOD WILL

President Reagan clearly promoted peace on earth. He stood by his support of strategic defense initiatives in lieu of most other world leaders of his time who wanted to begin to test nuclear weapons. Without that trait in former President Reagan; we might not have enjoyed so many years of tranquil peace and prosperity without fear.

How I cherish those memories of such simpler, happier days for our country.

HE PROMOTED PEACE

By letting other nations know without a doubt that America had a solid plan of protection in place; Ronald Reagan kept our nation assured that they were safe and secure.

He supported all military efforts to stop communism from spreading throughout the world and infiltrating our country’s borders.

Even babies in the womb could be assured that they had a president who felt it was critical and morally right for our country to protect them. This president cared deeply about the unborn. He knew they were our future. This amazing president supported people, laws and policies which offered so many of them a chance for the freedom of breath and life.

This president understood that one child could make a difference in the whole world.

A GODLY MAN IN AN HONEST OFFICE

Ronald Reagan stood for a moral America.

Reagan was not ashamed to speak up with the fact that he believed in and trusted God to guide him in leading our nation. His high standards were biblical in nature. They took precedence over all other things. This man knew about the importance of exact and proper priorities. He could explain to you why he had them.

President Reagan believed in and constantly turned to The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution in making his decisions. He honored the plan the country’s founders had so wisely devised for our nation. Reagan proudly followed in the footsteps of our founding fathers.

HE KNEW HOW TO TAKE A STAND WHEN HE NEEDED TO DO SO

When the liberal intellectuals of his day stood publicly and promoted their ways of tyranny; this great president provided good solid logic to help the people understand the truth. He logically and methodically spoke of the truthful conclusions which supported the solid workable foundations that our nation was built upon. For the time of his presidency and even long after, this one trait kept our nation healthy and prosperous and safe from power-hungry government criminals and cronies.

President Reagan protected our best interests as greedy, corrupt politicians approached with their dirty hands held out in order to take the work of our hands from us. Ronald Reagan stood up to every one of them and did not flinch.

WE NEED MORE OF THE BEST OF THE BEST

It is nice to be able to look back in my own lifetime and realize that there was a time when we were lead by one of the very best of leaders.

I pray for more.

It is my constant hope that my grandchildren’s generation will bring forth such leaders. We must continue to hold out the hope and teach them to work toward those goals.

Ronald Reagan once said; “The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one who gets the people to do the greatest things.”

It is a very valid point. By following this advice, every man, woman and child in America could also become a great leader, even a future president!
