We have come to the sixth day of Hanukkah.
Today we kindle the lights to commemorate the wonders and the miracles and the saving acts that God performed in the days of our forefathers. These things are symbolic of our greatest blessing; Christ; The Light of the World.
SHINING INTO THE DARKNESS
As we light the sixth candle we will meditate on the following scriptures:
John 1:4–5: In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not.
John 8:12: Then speaks Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world. He that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life.
John 12:35 – 36: Then Jesus said unto them, yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, least darkness come upon you; for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whether he goeth. While ye have light, believe in the light that ye may be the children of light. These things spoke Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
WALK WHILE THE LIGHT IS WITH YOU
Pondering the last words of the scripture we know that Jesus was hiding from those who desired to kill him; until it was time for the crucifixion; but some of us always think of Jesus and how he is hiding in each of us; just waiting to reveal Himself to the world through something that we do, or say, or be.
Walking with Jesus is walking with the light.
It is like a little tiny unnoticed light that is flickering as we go into the destiny that He desires for our lives; then that light gets fanned by the love of God and we go out and do things for The Kingdom of God that we might never have done on our own.
The little bit of light in all of us grows into a flame for God’s Kingdom.
PAYING ATTENTION TO THE LIGHT
Last night there was a meteor shower. It was beautiful and shooting stars were everywhere. You had to be paying attention to the light show in the sky; otherwise you would have just slept through a fantastic presentation from God.
We often think of the light of the stars, the moon and the sun. Pagans used to worship these creations. That was sinful and wrong.
We know who created the lights in the sky; and we worship the One True God who created Heaven and Earth.
God uses the lights in the celestial bodies like the moon and the sun and the stars to teach us more about the light of Christ. We know God created them in order to divide the darkness so that we can now see and live and grow in light.
GROWING IN THE LIGHT
Just as we have been given the sun by God to light the sky, there is only One Son of God that has been given to us. As the light of the sun shines down on us; so too shines the Son of God who comes as the light of life. He is the ONE and ONLY begotten Son of God.
Be careful that you worship God and are not deceived by pagan beliefs about false worship of the planets and/or false antichrists who come and go in this world. They show up in our lives appearing to be angels of light, and they catch us off guard.
Study to show yourself approved, so that they cannot deceive you with their dark ways.
There have been many antichrists throughout the history of mankind. One of them was Antiochus Epiphanies who desecrated the Temple before the restoration and the great miracle that God sent at the first Hanukkah.
Beware of the antichrist; they bring darkness instead of light.
BEWARE OF THE DARKNESS OF THE ANTICHRIST
How will we know?
The ways of darkness never line up with the light of Christ.
His beautiful light shines out into the darkness leading us down the one true path of righteousness and salvation.
He is the way, the truth and the light.
Follow Him.
Even some of the high religious leaders of today are walking in darkness. Beware, and take heed for God knows this and in the end they will be punished for deceiving His children.
The scriptures say it would be better for a millstone to be tied around someone’s neck and for them to be drowned in the sea than for someone to deceive a true child of God.
DO NOT WALK IN DECEPTION
Many will come to deceive us; but we must walk in the light while there is light.
Never has the message of Hanukkah been so important than the present times.
As I mentioned earlier; we are living in similar days as when Antiochus IV Epiphanies desecrated the Temple, the times just before the Temple was restored by God’s mighty men called the Maccabees.
God sent down the great miracle of Hanukkah just in time.
GOD WILL SEND EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED
In these days, much like those days, a lot of people feel hopeless, and they feel lost and they do not understand what they should do next.
It is the same for us as that great miracle of light on the first Hanukkah. Our God will send exactly what we need.
In those days the people were forced to adhere to laws that they did not want or need in the land.
The new laws were opposed to the laws of God.
It was a time in which the new laws of the land were an abomination unto God.
Does any of this sound familiar for today?
IN TIMES OF LAWLESSNESS; GOD’S LIGHT WILL STILL SHINE OUT
If you look back through the pages of history you can see that God never lets such things last.
God ALWAYS comes to the defense of His people.
The story of God isn’t over yet.
Also; the story of God’s people isn’t over yet!
God is still building a holy nation full of Holy Spirit filled believers.
IN THE UNEXPECTED; CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD
When such times drop down on us so unexpected, we must continue to call on the name of The Lord. Trust Jesus to save us from our enemies; even those that are living and moving within our own walls.
We must trust Jesus Christ who died for us to light the way for us.
His truth is the only truth.
His way is the only way.
He is the TRUE light of the world.
