ELUL MEDITATIONS AND PREPARATIONS

All My Days Calendar· PRODUCTS· SEASONS

2 Aug

You know, life is all about being prepared. Proverbs 24:27 gives us some great advice. Here are the words of that verse: “Prepare your work outside; get everything ready for yourself in the field, and after that build your house. “

PUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS FIRST

It seems to matter to God that we put the most important things first. Once that is done we can be freed to concentrate on other things of less importance. One of the most important things to a Christian believer should be the condition of his life before God. How has your walk been during this last year?

Elul is a season during the last months of the Hebrew civil calendar. Once The Feast of Trumpets has come and gone, the Hebraic year changes. A new civil year begins. God works within this calendar. We know that because He is the creator of the Hebraic calendar. He underlined this and put it in bold when He rained down the Manna from Heaven. Not only do we realize this fact from the days of creation; we also see it verified during the times of Moses.

In Genesis we are told how God gave the calendar to us on the fourth day of creation. This was when He set the sun, moon and stars into the sky. That was when He created our gift of time. When He made man from the dust of the earth on the sixth day, God gave us this gift of time He prepared in advance. Time is of great importance while we are on this earth. Time does not exist in eternity, but eternity depends on how we spend our time today.

Are you keeping time on God’s calendar or man’s calendar? Mankind’s self-made calendar is completely different from God’s set times and seasons. The patterns and frequencies of the earth conform to His calendar. He is the Master of this universe. God created all things and all things respond to the sound of His voice.

ROSH CODESH ELUL IS COMING

Every new moon brings us a new month on God’s calendar. He set the timing of the phases of the moon. Approximately every 30 days God blesses us with a new gift of time. At the end of each Hebraic calendar year, during the month called Elul, an emphasis is put upon examining how we are living before God as we spend that gift of time He gave to us when we took our first breath.

How are we using the time He has granted to us? What have we done right? Are there things we have done wrong? What do we need to improve? How are we going to bring those things before God before we step into another year of walking with and before Him?

EXAMINING OUR TIME WITH GOD

It truly matters to God that we take time during the proper seasons to examine where we are in this gift of time which makes up our life. Matthew 24:44 says: “Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

We need God’s help to be able to keep walking down the right paths until this scripture is fulfilled. He has designed a season for pondering and considering these thoughts. It is called Elul. In Elul God is listening closely to our conversations. He wants to guide us into the new year. He wants us to end the last year properly.

TO GAIN A HEART OF WISDOM

Psalm 90:12 says, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Elul is all about gaining a heart of wisdom.

Mankind’s month of August has already begun. This year is flying by so fast. If you observe the days of God’s calendar, you might want to remember to arrange for some meditations to help you during the time of examination called Elul. These meditations will be useful during all the 40 days before the trumpet blast on The Feast of Trumpets.

All of these 40 days of meditations (30 days of Elul plus 10 Days of Awe) are designed to help us to walk correctly before God. If we need to turn, He will help us to do so. The 30 days of Elul begin on August 25, 2025 on the secular calendars which most people use today.

A MONTH AND A SEASON

Most Christians are not familiar with this season called Elul. It is a 30 day time of self-examination before God, which is followed by ten days of Awe. Most all of the faithful examples we know participated in these days in the past. There was Moses, Joshua, David, the Prophets of old, etc. They all kept these days and observed them.

These days have been placed on the Hebraic calendar according to God’s timing, not mankind’s timing. Most people consider Elul to be an old outdated Jewish custom that was used during the days of Moses, but no longer applies to our lives today. That could not be further from the truth. If you are a believer of Messiah, you need to have spiritual discernment as to God’s will for your life. You could start with understanding the wisdom of the season of Elul.

MEDITATING ON THE WISDOM OF GOD

A great way to begin to understand this time is to read our book called Christian Meditations For Elul. It will help to deepen your relationship with God by leading you through the practice of daily devotions for the season of Elul. This book isn’t specifically written for Jews, though they might enjoy it too. No, it was actually written for Christians who believe in Jesus Christ as Messiah. The pages are full of daily devotions for the dates of the month of Elul, one for each day of the month.

As we go through the end of summer, I am going to be explaining a little bit about this time in order to let people know of this available publication. I hope you will be interested in reading with us. I say “us” because Christians all over the world are coming to the same conclusion that I have held for many years now. We’ve realized that God has given us certain times and seasons to come before Him in different ways. These season are useful and fulfilling in our daily lives. They prepare our hearts for God’s Holy Days, Feasts and Festivals. All of these ways are biblical, and true. They fill our lives with God’s love, mercy and compassion. Each season of God’s calendar is designed to help us to keep our lives in order.
