INTRODUCTION
Thank you for joining us in this ongoing chronological bible study where we try to approach everything with the heart of a child. Today’s topic covers the most important door that ever existed.
THE IMPORTANCE OF DOORS
Do you ever think about how important entry ways and doors are?
Without them, we would never be able to go anywhere!
Today we reach the part of our study when God tells Moses to make the door of the wilderness tabernacle. You can read the scripture references in Exodus 26:37-38.
“You shall make a screen for the door of the tabernacle woven of blue, purple and scarlet thread, and the woven linen, made by a weaver. And you shall make for the screen five pillars of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold; their hooks shall be of gold, and you shall cast the five sockets of bronze for them. “
THE DOOR TO THE WILDERNESS TABERNACLE REPRESENTS CHRIST
This beautiful curtain called the “door” was 10 cubits long by 10 cubits wide.
The curtain’s support came from five pillars of acacia wood overlaid with gold.
Each pillar had a capital (crown) of gold.
THE CASTING DOWN OF GOLDEN CROWNS
The crowns of gold on the capitals for the pillars make me think of people laying their crowns before God at the end of time. This thought was sparked by the verses found in Revelation 4:10-11:
The twenty-four elders fall down before the One seated on the throne. And they worship Him who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne, saying “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, by Your will they exist and came to be.”
There are many other scriptures that proclaim that those who are rewarded in heaven will cast their golden crowns before the throne of God in worship and adoration.
Can you imagine what a day that will be for those who have been redeemed by the blood of Christ?
These people who I speak of in this glorious unimaginable situation have all entered through the “door.” They have all come to know the loving and saving power of Christ. The things that wait for them on the other side of time are unspeakable. They will know the joy of going behind the veil.
As I have already mentioned; the “door” was supported by these five pillars which were covered with golden crowns. Golden rings attached to these five pillars held the screen/door/veil in place. The door was blue, purple and scarlet woven in fine linen threads. This was all the work of a skilled weaver.
THE HIDDEN WORK OF THE MASTER WEAVER
I think we can understand by now that God was the Master Weaver. This has been mentioned before: https://theinseasonlifestyle.com/god-master-weaver/
God has been selecting all the special threads needed to paint the beautiful tapestry of His Son, Jesus Christ for all of those who chose to enter through the door.
A WORK OF LOVE AND SACRIFICE
God instructed Moses to be very careful to pick the best of the best craftsmen to display his handiwork of the wilderness tabernacle. Whether or not they knew what they did; these skilled craftsmen imitated the God of The Universe as they went about their work of love.
All of the makings of the door were a work of art and a sacrifice of true love.
The design of The Master Weaver is once again very evident in the making of this door.
Most of us fortunate enough to be on this side of time will be quick to remember the words of Christ from John 10:7-9:
Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.”
GOD HAS ALWAYS HAD A PLAN FOR US
Way over 3,500 years ago God gave Moses these instructions for the door.
This was at least 1,500 years before the birth of Christ.
Think about those facts for a moment and then try to explain how everything in creation and time could possibly be described as random acts of nature. You can’t; because it isn’t so!
Our Creator; God Almighty; has always had a plan. He told us about that plan through the symbols of this wilderness tabernacle.
Before the plan had even begun to unfold; He told us through the design of the tabernacle. Now we know because He told us way back then.
This is all just one more proof to us that He is God; and He is always in control of our destiny. He has had a plan from the first moment that He created us. It is now unfolding in our present story with Moses and the instructions for this magnificent door/way.
EVERYTHING BEGINS AT THE DOOR; AND THERE IS ONLY ONE DOOR
The first part of God’s plan to bring mankind unto Himself begins at the door.
The door opens the way to all other things of our Heavenly Father.
There is only one door.
There is no other way to enter the tabernacle.
You either come through the doorway; or you do not enter at all.
The east side of the wilderness tabernacle is where this door was located.
THE DOOR IS THE ONLY WAY TO THE FATHER
Are you seeing the portrait of Christ in all of this yet?
Can’t you just hear those words from John 14:6?
“I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father but by me.”
YOU MUST PASS BY THE BRAZEN ALTAR TO REACH THE DOOR
Before you can enter through the door to the wilderness tabernacle, you must pass by the brazen altar.
This is the altar used for animal sacrifices. The death of the animals sacrificed at this altar meant that the one who sacrificed them deserved to die for his transgressions.
The brazen altar made of acacia wood overlaid with bronze is a picture of Christ on the cross. The wood of the frame of the altar as well as the wood that is burned there symbolizes the humanity of Christ. The bronze represents judgment.
John called Jesus “The Lamb of God Who Takes Away The Sins of The World.” Before the lamb was slain the guilty person laid his hands on top of the lamb’s head. This symbolically transferred the sins from the guilty person to the sacrificial animal.
BETWEEN THE BRAZEN ALTAR AND THE DOOR WAS THE LAVER
After one passed the brazen altar; one then passed the laver.
The priest making atonement sacrifices had to wash his hands and feet here before coming into the Presence of God inside the door of the tabernacle.
If the priest entered the Holy of Holies without washing; he would die.
All people standing before the presence of God must be clean.
After the washing the priest would enter The Holy Place. This was the first section inside the Sanctuary. This was an area of approximately 30 feet long by 15 feet wide.
MUCH IS TO TAKE PLACE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE DOOR BEFORE ENTERING
There is so much to be known on the outside of the door. One must remember to confess their sins and be washed and receive atonement before entering inside through the door. These things must take place first.
FINDING THE DOOR
This door, named Jesus, came to tabernacle among us! If you desire to know Him; you must seek for Him with all of your heart.
He pitched his tent on this earth inside a body of flesh for 33 years and He lived like us so that He could show us the way to God. There is only one way.
He is the door.
The tabernacle in the wilderness stood 150 feet long and 75 feet wide. The “gate” was placed in the 75 foot long width on the east side of the tent. It measured 30 feet in length.
A DOOR OF MANY COLORS
The fine linen curtain called the door was made of many colors. That fact made me ponder the coat that Joseph was given by his Father; as it was called “a coat of many colors.”
This fact that the door was made of many colors also makes me think of the many colors of skin that the people covered in the blood Christ must possess. The only color that God will see is RED. Red is the color of the atoning blood of Christ.
The words of the little children’s song; “red and yellow, black and white; all are precious in His sight; Jesus loves the little children of the world” come to mind when I hear of this door.
Again; the Master Weaver weaves so much into His story of the tabernacle; especially into the significance of this amazing doorway.
As we have stated many times before; the colors were all significant.
The white was for purity.
Blue stood for the color of the heavens.
Purple is the color for royalty.
Scarlet is the color of atoning blood.
All of these colors represent the work of Christ as Prophet, Priest and King. These are the colors of a true Messiah.
THE DOOR THAT REPRESENTS A PROPHET, PRIEST AND KING BRINGS SALVATION
This Shepherd/Prophet/Priest/King/Messiah, is the door we must go through in order to obtain salvation.
Let’s think of that passage from John again, but this time let’s back up to verse 2 in order to get the whole picture:
(John 10:2-9) “But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.
Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers. “
Jesus used this illustration but they did not understand the thing which he spoke to them.
Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
All who ever came before me are thieves and robbers; but the sheep did not hear them.
I am the door.
If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.”
If you want to memorize any verse of the bible; I would think this would be one of the best you could pick. It is vital and crucial to understanding salvation. To be saved; you MUST know Jesus. No one else can give you eternal life. No one else can lead you to God.
Once we have followed Jesus and entered the Kingdom through Him, He will care for us and protect us. We become His flock. Like sheep, we will always know our Shepherd’s voice. We have His Word with us always through the Holy Scriptures. We cannot relate to anything opposed to God’s Word.
ENTERING THROUGH THE DOOR
Knowing Jesus is comparable to entering through the door of the wilderness tabernacle.
He is the way inside to God’s dwelling place.
On the other side of this door we will find light and bread. There Jesus will be offering up intercession for us at the Altar of Incense.
THE DOOR WILL TAKE US TO THE HOLY OF HOLIES AND ETERNAL LIFE WITH GOD
Through Christ we are now allowed to enter The Holy Place, then go right past the veil into The Holy of Holies. It is His blood that atones us. No other atonement is acceptable. His blood was perfect and sinless. It is our provision.
Thank God we are now allowed to appear clean before God’s throne because of His intercession for us at the Mercy Seat. (https://theinseasonlifestyle.com/httpwp-mep8woph-ns/ ) Christ is our perfect entry way into the Kingdom of God.
THE DOOR IS OUR PROVISION
The veil has been removed because of His death on the cross. It was rent from top to bottom. He has provided the way through to God. There is now no more division to separate God from mankind. Christ has overcome every barrier.
This “way” or “door” has made eternal life with God possible for all of us. It all started way back with the construction of The Wilderness Tabernacle.
