We blinked and September arrived!

Hope your summer is ending well!

We’ve had a beautiful end of summer/beginning of Fall here. It is nice that the long, hot days are finally getting a bit cooler.

FAMILY IS ALWAYS FIRST

I’m not sure where August snuck off to; but it surely went by very fast. Since August is the one month of the year that doesn’t hold a major holiday, we focused on a lot of lazy, summer fun with family. I can’t think of anything I would rather be doing.

A FOCUS ON WRITING GOALS

Besides spending time with family, I’ve spent a great amount of time working on three new publications. Two of them are very appropriate for Fall; one will be more in tuned with things we do later next spring.

Thus; I did not get all the reading done for the book reviews I promised last month. They will appear in our September Newsletter if time allows. I’m finding the older I get the less time I have! No need to hurry though; we will get there.

A lot of other goals WERE accomplished this August!

ANTICIPATING A BOOK LAUNCH

I feel a book launch coming on sometime late-September – Mid-October. EXODUS TO FREEDOM is now in the proofing stage. I’m so excited to be almost ready to present this new book.

EXODUS TO FREEDOM is packed with great stories, useable examples for today’s world and much of the interesting history of ancient Israel. We encounter so many adventures in this walk with Israel through The Book of Exodus.

There are thought provoking questions at the end of most chapters of the book. Small groups will love this new addition to our collection of Christian writtings.

PERFECT FOR THE PRESENT SEASON

Also; we produced two great new devotional books for Elul and The Days of Awe.

Our best meditations and daily devotions are available in printed summary all through Elul and The Ten Days of Awe.

The daily devotions are beautifully illustrated.

You will notice that these daily devotions we often post to our ALL MY DAYS topic page are not being updated or blogged this year. So; I think you are going to want to grab your copies of both books. They will be more useful tools for the season. You will be able to use them year-after-year for this annual season of renewal.

AUGUST REVIEW

In spite of all the publishing and the short times left for blogging during the month of August; we had several interesting new posts for our IN SEASON blogging commmunity.

Some of those post were from the COME AS A CHILD BIBLE STUDY lessons for August which were taken from The Book of Judges. This week we are moving through Chapter 10 of Judges.

COME AS A CHILD BIBLE STUDY

This study is gaining momentum and many are interested in learning about this particular time period during the history of Israel. The stories are full of adventure and unlikely heroes.

There are so many lessons for today’s culture buried inside the times of Israel’s judges.

Just click into any of the lessons below if you need to review any of these lessons again:

SEASONS

Our SEASONS topics for August were focused on the season of Elul and The Ten Days of Awe.

At the risk of repeating myself; I hope you have ordered the two books we published on these fascinating subjects. They are available from Amazon.com.

Below are our August articles for the SEASONS topics in August, followed by a way to order the best books we can offer for observing with daily devotions during this season.

Enjoy!

PEN ART

Below are the two books we have published this month for use in the observances mentioned above. They are awesome devotionals with an article for each day of these seasons.

COMING IN SEPTEMBER 2023

A new book will be published; of course!

We are proud to announce that our latest study guide on The Book of Exodus will be available in September.

The title is EXODUS TO FREEDOM.

The book is a summary of our on-line Exodus study with added commentary and questions for small groups to ponder. Keep watching our blog posts for more information.

You don’t want to miss this exciting new book!

It is loaded with information on how the ancient times of Israel teach us how to exist in the world of today with a mind-set for freedom that only God can give.

Don’t forget to watch for this new publication coming soon.

If your small group is looking for a good study guide this might just be the one.

BOOK REVIEWS

We were so busy writing in August that we didn’t get the book reviews we wanted published. We HAVE been reading the books though, and you can expect to see some of those reviews published in September.

FALL HOLY DAYS

The Fall Holy Days are practically here. The month of September will be covering them in a HUGE way. We are so excited to begin this season. The whole IN SEASON Lifestyle Community is waiting eagerly to see what God is going to show us this year.

Those of you who have always kept God’s feast, festivals and Holy Days know that no matter how long you go through each season God always reveals something new to His people.

The anticipation is building here, especially as we are making plans to celebrate The Feast of Tabernacles.

Something new is in the air! In spite of our crazy, chaotic world conditions; we can feel God moving among His people. Hope abounds and fills our hearts.

MONDAY MENUS, THE HOUSE DOCTOR, AN APPLE A DAY, GROW OLD WITH ME, OH THE PLACES WE SHOULD GO

No; we haven’t forgotten these old familiar and well-loved topics!

They are all coming back soon and possibly we will sprinkle some of them into our September articles. The seasonal things are just at the front of our minds and hearts right now. They are going to take priority for the fall.

A STORE FOR THE HOUSE DOCTOR?

This author is trying a new experiment with the items shown in the articles I’ve used over the last 10 years for THE HOUSE DOCTOR.

Since I’m simi-retired now I’ve finally settled into one color scheme and one decorating theme for our home. (I’ll bet that is hard for all of you to believe.)

A green decorating theme has lasted here for over a year now. I only throw in a few old favorite decorating items every time the seasons change, or we have a holiday need.

This being the case; I’m hoping to open up a little consignment shop with the BUILDING FULL of practically new items we have used for seasonal changes in past seasons.

I’ll be sharing how that little business goes as we progress. Perhaps you might find a few tips for your own seasonal consignment business in what we are inventing here. It is all a work in progress right now. Anyway; I have a vision for the start of it and will be sharing soon.

OH THE PLACES WE SHOULD GO

We’ve had travel articles sitting on the back-burner since COVID started. I think it is time to pull them out again. You know my fascination with small towns and communities. We will be sharing some of those adventures this fall, and hopefully all through this next year.

AN APPLE A DAY

As far as AN APPLE A DAY goes, we are finding that the best way to improve health as we age is to eliminate the intake of sugar. Look for some articles about this topic soon. It is SO hard to make that change given our current culture. We hope to provide a lot of new and helpful tips to make things easier.

Another health topic I wish to focus more on this year is alternative information sources regarding good healthcare. What health writers are you listening to these days? Are they feeding you misinformation or proven facts? I want to explore some more of these topics.

SO LITTLE TIME; SO MANY GOOD TOPICS

You know my mind moves faster than my body these days; so expect all of these topics to be slowly sprinkled into the fall and winter articles we publish. I’m not about moving too fast with any of them. Life is more about quality than quanity these days. I want to bring you articles that enrich you life.

COME AS A CHILD BIBLE STUDY

My favorite way to enrich others is to post bible studies. Our focus for this blog will always be the Thursday bible study. That is the ministry we are strongly called to. It is combined with the faithful following of God’s perfect annual calendar. These other topics are just icing for your cake.

We hope you have enjoyed this August 2023 Newsletter.

Fall blessings to every one!
