WHAT MAKES UP A PERFECT YEAR?
If you have 20/20 vision it means that you see perfectly.
How can our vision for the upcoming civil year match this calendar full of perfect numbers?
What are your hopes for 2020?
Do you want to start this next civil year out on solid footing with plans and hopes and dreams that are tied to the days to come?
THE ONLY CALENDAR THAT TRULY WORKS
If I were to design a perfect plan for completing the year the world calls 2020, I would have to step way back in time and design it around God’s calendar instead of the world’s calendar.
I’ve had an idea to begin to do that with my own life anyway.
I’m not an expert of time, history or the making of calendars; so maybe that is why I’m willing to just try a little experiment throughout this coming year.
MY NEW EXPERIMENT WITH TIME
There seem to be only a few simple rules to following God’s original calendar. Different cultures and different ages seem to have made it much more difficult to understand than God intended, but if you get back to the very basics; it appears that it really is quite simple.
Maybe there are things I don’t know or facts that I don’t realize, and possibly making the days time out just perfect at this point in history could be much more complicated than I think.
THE BASICS FOR THE ANCIENT CALENDARS
However; I would simply design a 355 day year instead of a 365 day year. This is what the ancient Hebrews used.
The first month would start with the new moon that appears over Jerusalem each spring at Passover.
At one time the seventh month was the time for the beginning of the year; but God officially changed that date to the springtime way back during the Exodus.
There are twelve months that follow.
GOD DIDN’T NAME MONTHS
The world and some of the ancient pagans have given months names; God didn’t do that. He referred to months as numbers.
Each month contains 30 days.
Days begin at the rising of the moon and end whenever the new moon is spotted in the sky. “Evening and morning was the first day.”
So my calendar would have 355 days divided into twelve 30 day months that begin in the springtime. Each 30 days I would mark the count of another month. Twelve thirty day months would transpire each year.
ADJUSTMENTS ARE LEFT UP TO GOD
I would simply let God’s watch (the moon) make any adjustments for wrong calculations at the end of each year.
After the last day of the year, the new months of the new years would not begin until the first new moon rising in the sky over Jerusalem for Passover in the spring season.
I would simply not start renumbering the calendar after 355 days until that new moon appeared. At that point I would have my adjustments made. So there might be some days at the end of the year that were not numbered; but they would play out until we saw the new spring moon. When that moon was spotted (the spring harvest moon) I would be back on track with God’s way of keeping time and the new year could have its first day.
The key is to get the timing of the first new moon of spring for Passover right. The rest would take care of itself.
WHY GO TO ALL OF THIS TROUBLE?
Why on earth would I want to do this?
I live and function in a modern day world that uses a calendar which has been changed and modified by many men over the ages.
Why go back to the beginning?
Because God speaks to us from scriptures that relate to His own original calendar.
He has set times within these times to meet with men.
These appointed times are not ordinary days; they are specific and special, sacred days that God has carved out in time to meet and deal with His people.
God has proven through time and history how He will choose to act on these specific days in time; and He has certain expectations for us to carry out on these days.
GOD’S CALENDAR MAKES LIFE SIMPLER
Even though they were given to Moses in ancient times; these special days are for us today too. If we simply learn how to keep God’s calendar again; our past will prove its lessons, our present will be amazing and our future will be all mapped out perfectly.
All we have to do is listen to God and follow His calendar as we keep His ways.
This simple method of keeping time seems to be the pathway to complete joy. It opens doors to worship that would not be there otherwise.
AN EXPERIMENT IN TIME
I’ve decided to do this in 2020.
It will be an experiment in time.
I will try to see if these simple steps in keeping my time on earth will bring me closer and closer to God. Is there a better goal in the coming year than this?
Of course; you know I’m going to blog about it as I go.
YOU CAN MAKE THE COMMITMENT TOO
Would you like to join in with me?
It would mean setting every 7th day aside for a Sabbath rest.
Also, it would mean setting aside the holy days given to Moses.
I have decided to also observe the two post-Mosaic holidays created by the Hebrew people called Hanukkah and Purim. I don’t consider them a holy obligation; they are simply good days to remember and commemorate. If you look at their patterns throughout history; you can see how God has used these days along with his other calendar days to declare things to mankind.
Are you ready for this?
If so; sign up for the mailing list below. This Spring we will be producing a digital version of this type of calendar with a daily calendar page as a download for those who are interested. You need to request it and get on our mailing list in order to receive it.
GO TO WHERE YOUR HEART LIVES
In the Spring, this IN SEASON Community will begin the experiment in time – that of sharing God’s original calendar for all of their days.
If this calendar observance sounds like a legalistic burden to you; I beg to differ.
It is a complete joy and delight.
Do you think keeping your worldly calendar is a burden? Why not keep your days in the places where your heart actually lives?
Come springtime, each day of the blog will be sharing digital versions of calendar supplements that speak of the special times of each season. Some will enjoy our festive way of decorating, some our scripture references, some our little stories for each occasion and some the articles for each of the holy days and seasons as they transpire. And yes, we will have recipes that relate to the seasons as we go through them along with articles on health and nutrition.
RELATING THE ANCIENT TO THE MODERN
As we go, we will relate the ancient to the modern and we will find modern day places and times to share which are happy to tie in with God’s holy calendar, which (like Him) never really changes or grows too old.
I’m excited about this new adventure.
We will be using many of the basic articles from the past and enhancing them to meet the needs of this new/old digital calendar with supplements.
If you are with me on this; I would love to hear from you. Fill out the form at the end of this article and send me your contact information to add to our mailing list.
THE ALL MY DAYS AND SEASONS DIGITAL CALENDAR
I’ve decided to call this new/old way of keeping time the ALL MY DAYS AND SEASONS DIGITAL CALENDAR.
There will be a digital message for each day of the year, along with other supplemental materials to enhance the use of this calendar. For those getting in on the first “experimental year” the use of the calendar will be free. Once we work out the kinks and get it completely right (by playing out this first year’s journey) we will offer these digital calendars for sale in the coming years.
WHAT THE EXPERTS SAY
Some of the experts in time-management who are speaking out on the subject today say to pick a one-word focus for your up-coming year in 2020. The IN SEASON Lifestyle picks the word “time.” This is the year that we will focus on the preciousness of our time on this earth and explore the fact that how we live out our days now will affect how we live out our days in eternity.
In eternity; calendars will be totally unnecessary; but until we arrive – please consider joining in with us and participating in this life-giving, life-bringing experiment.
We will speak more about these things as springtime grows closer in 2020. Until then; may your days be full and may your time be blessed by God.
